This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Real flying visit as running late ... as per usual
Despite not being very good on diet this week, managed to lose 0.45kg taking total weight loss to 8.65kg or just over 19lb in old money. If I settle down to losing 1lb per week, I will be very happy but hope it will go up when my arm recovers and I can exercise again.
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning TTFTM and all who cross/follow,
LW, Hilstep, Molly Hugs for you.
Hester Hope that you are ok.
Warm here again this morning, we are going to have another hot day.
Really terrible news yesterday, had a phone call from DD1's school yesterday afternoon. Her best friend's mum had died yesterday morning.
DD1 was distraught as she knew the lady really well, I can't begin to think how her friend is feeling.
It put quite a few things in perspective for me.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Moorhen Thats awful, how sad, poor lass just give her lots of hugs and reassurances.Death is harder for the ones left behind
Good morning its another warm one by the looks of things .I tried to get to Morrisons at Sittingbourne at lunchtime yesterday but gave up as the traffic was dreadful(its only 6 miles away from where I live ) apparently a lorry had overturned on the A249 and the road was shut as it contanied gas canisters.
Then at 5.15p.m. my son-in-law arrived home early to relieve me from childcare of the boys so I thought well the road should be a lot better now I have another go (I didn't fancy trailing there this morning)
Bad move on my part, I managed to get there in 20 minutes not a problem and wandered round an empty store and got all the things I needed ,I was happy as it came to under £18.00 which was even better ,topped up with diesel(get points for that:))and set off home again.
1hour and 40 minutes later I arrived home Grrr the blasted traffic had built up again as one side of the road had reopened, but the other had been closed. So everything was funneled off the main road onto small roads.Bearing in mind the A249 is the main Sheerness road and there are docks there, it meant huge lorrys were stuck and lots kept over heating and blocking the smaller side roads .everywhere was gridlocked I eventually arrived home very hot and cheesed off at 8.20.p.m.
Still at least it leaves today free to do what i want this morning :)I shall spend it sitting in my conservatory reading and drinking tea I think:)
This afternoon I have my Dexa bonescan to make sure all my old bones are still working as they should, and osteoporosis hasn't got hold of them.
DGS Ben will pick up the boys in case I'm not out of the hospital in time.
apart from that not much to report ,I like the warm weather but would like it a wee bit cooler at night as I'm not keen on trying to sleep during the warm weather and it makes you feel so sluggish in the morning.
Right time I got in the shower and had some breakfast I snaffled a box of strawberries from Morrisons last night reduced to 35p so I think I will have some chopped up on top of my cereal this morning.
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -
Morning everyone :j
Moorhen, I'm really sorry to hear your news. It's so sad when something like this happens and you are right, it does put things into perspective. Hope your DD will be ok, all you can do is listen to her and give her loads of hugs.
Just packed hubby off to work, he had a moan to me about having no shorts to wear. Oh dear, how sad, never mind lol! He's gone off to work now wearing some swimming shorts....good job he has to wear a lab coat all day.:rotfl:
Today I am doing some washing, tidying the living room and if it doesn't get too hot I will be baking a cake. Eldest DD is popping in after the school run with my grandson. He certainly kept me on my toes yesterday....2 yr olds are hard work lol.:rotfl::rotfl: I honestly can't really remember when the girls were tiny, the first 5 years was all a bit of a blur. I remember they were all in nappies at the same time for a while and that was expensive lol.
DD13 has rocked one of the evil kittens to sleep in her arms. They are so cute when they are sleeping but they rampage through the house causing mayhem when they are awake. I feed all the cats together now and old fat cat seems to cope with it. It's much better than the yowling and wingeing that used to happen when they had to wait for their food.
It's much cooler here this morning as it's quite misty but I'm sure it's going to get hot again later. Hope everyone has a great day and hugs to anyone who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Morning everyone
Moorhen - hugs, how awful x
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Brilliant sunshine and already very warm here. Washing on the line. Plants watered.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces, HG minted new potatoes, carrots, broccolli, green beans and gravy, ice creams for dessert. Tonight we will be having LO roast pork, cheese and potato pie, baked beans and fried egg (got to make the pork stretch as not too much left).
Work was busy yesterday - so hoping for an easier day today.
Had a letter yesterday to say that the ppi compensation that we'd had hadn't met the rules and regs and some info that we should have been told we hadn't so there's more compensation to come and we've had to sign another letter and I'll be putting that in the post today. I'm not thinking it's going to be very much but we'll have to wait and see!
Have a good day - remember the suncream if you're out in the sun!
Keep safe and well x

Morning :hello:
Moorhen what a shock
Islandmaid I'm panda-like tooI was out in the sun all day yesterday, I wore sunglasses, leggings and a floaty top (too floaty I think, I'm sure I look pregnant in it, lol). Nicely covered - but I forgot about my face. Which is now a fetching shade of [STRIKE]pink[/STRIKE] bright red, apart from round my eyes, where it's white :rotfl:
We went to Cotswold Wildlife Park and saw the baby rhino :j The rhinos are usually quite a way off in their field, but the heat had them looking for shade, they picked a tree right near the fence so we had a really good viewMum walked over to the hay to eat, baby followed. You don't think of animals toddling, but they do
A toddling rhino - it was fab to see
One load of washing on the line, another about to go out. Then I'll whip round with the hoover. I need to pick some raspberries and water the greenhouses, then mr tru will come down and say "where shall we go today then?" before reeling off a long list of places he wants to go. I don't know why he bothers, we always end up doing the same things on his week off - Forest of Dean, Weston, Cotswold Wildlife Park, somewhere along the south Devon coast and MineheadBulletproof0 -
Morning all,
Scorching here all ready :Tmust admit i am loving this weather, although i really need to spend some time in the garden, and its just too hot atm.
Volunteer day was good yesterday, but soooo hot in the kitchen, I drank gallons of water I came home exhausted.
Today I have to go and let my friends chickens out this morning, they are in a small run but its nice for them to have access to the bigger one, so I do it when I can, will collect the eggs, and any fruit which is ready too.
Dinner will be something with lamb chops, maybe garlic cubed pots and some veggies.
Got wash number 1 on the go, and another 2 to go.
Moorhen, what dreadful news xx
Not seen Topsy or Hester for a while ? x
Have good days all xx0 -
Moorhen that was truly terrible news, that poor family
JackieO that traffic problem yesterday caused chaos. My Sainsburys delivery was due in the 6 pm - 7pm slot. At 5 we had a call to say the driver was stuck in the traffic, and the frazzled chap eventually turned up just after 8
He said his last two deliveries were back in Sittingbourne, but he wasn't going to do them, as he'd probably have to spend another couple of hours in the traffic
I'm having my hair cut this morning, and apart from that, don't plan on doing too much, just going to enjoy the nice weather.
Have a good dayEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Good morning all,
Moorhen how dreadful my thoughts are with you all
Another glorious day here. I fasted yesterday for the second time, scales show 3 lbs off, I know its probably water but a good start and spurred me on. ttftm well done on the weight loss, very impressed.
Dh at home today as no work:( it's probably because the weather is good, people aren't thinking about having jobs done but sitting in the sunshine, oh hum we will try and have a productive day anyway.
Ds3 last day at 6 th form today he will get his results on 15 th August. We are worried he may have to resit the year but we shall see, fingers crossed it won't come to that.
Off for a toast to break my fast.
Have a good day xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning peeps
Another hot one brewing so plan is to get housework and errands done this morning so I can chill this afternoon.
Not sure what's for tea as my planned fast yesterday went t*ts up. Made the mistake of having breakfast which for some reason made blood sugar plummet so ended up having copious amounts of sweet tea to make me feel better. I wouldn't mind if I'd had some crappy sugar laden cereal but it was scrambled egg. Still a sure sign to me that breakfast doesn't suit me.
Anyway having a quick coffee before I go run my errands. Have hoovered downstairs already (go me :rotfl:). Going to put the BM on shortly and try and work out what i am having for lunch and dinner this eve.
Hugs and spoons everyone xx
Tru loved your pics on FBI, baby rhino is cute
Moorhenwhat a terrible tragedy
thinking of you all and your DDs friend and family xxx
Julie fingers crossed DS get the results he needs x
