Cheapest place to buy School Shoes and trainers!!

Help, my 12 yr old son needs new school shoes and trainers. He is size 9 and wants Timberland boots which are £85. He also wants K. swiss trainers which are £60.

I can't find them cheaper than JD sports at the above prices.

Please can anyone advise.

Thanks

Fifi.

I'd advise forget his "wants" and the brands and buy at a more realistic price

I agree - tell him when he has his own money he can buy as much "designer" clobber. They shouldn't wear boots or trainers for school anyway.

I have a 12 year old and there is no way I would spend £85 on school shoes and £60 on trainers. If she wanted designer labels so badly she would have to save up her pocket/birthday money to make up the difference to what I consider to be a reasonable amount for these items.

I think you should explain to your son how long it takes you to earn £145 and how many weeks pocket money that is for him.

You could try mandmdirect.com or, alternatively, Bicester Village (near Oxford) has a Timberland factory outlet (but you can't buy online).

Is there an outlet village close to you? Sometimes you can find shoes at a reduced cost.;)
  • I know how hard it can be with kids and peer pressure ,if their mate has them then they want them . It's hard to get the balance right .

I would probably buy the boots for him but make him save up for the trainers himself...That way you've reached some kind of compromise.

eBay is where I'd be looking for the boots.........you could probably get them for around £50 inc P & P. Or if you have an outlet near you, try there.

I am in agreement with other posters though, it's so important to try and instill the value of money to kids. My girl's 6 & 8 have to jobs around the house for their pocket money and if they don't get their chores done, they don't get their pocket money. They are now both avid savers and are loathe to spend any of their own money. Which , oddly enough has taught them that money doesn't grow on trees. If they want something like a new DS game ,they'll quite happily sort out some old toys for me to sell for them on eBay..........Perhaps you could do this with your son , see what he would be willing to sell to get his hands on those trainers!

Hi fifi35 .... alot of people i know order "designer" clothes from mandmdirect http://www.mandmdirect.com/ProductList.asp or if you live in the northwest cheshire oaks designer villiage has a timberland shop and they "sometimes" stock boots.

The highstreet store, Slaters menswear also stock designer clothes at discounted prices
