Which is a good policy. Also my sons school specifies black shoes not trainers.

The black Timberland boots are for school the trainers are for fashion to keep up with his peers.

You are very lucky that your sons school doesn't allow designer clothes. Unfortunatley I don't have that luxury.

Just as an aside my son has worked and saved up and is paying half towards them.

Didn't realise I had to justify myself or I would have put that in my first post.

Once again, thanks to all those that answered my query without giving a lecture.

    Cheers

i just wanted to say, that this is the way of life now with young kids,we all wanted things that were in fashion at the time didnt we?alright looking back now some of it was absolutly terrible but at the time we wanted it. so actually nothings changed.
If she didnt buy him the things that everyone is wearing its not nice for him to go to school and be the only one out of his friends not to have all the latest gear, its not there fault how much it costs, and if she has the money to buy it and treat her son which dont we all want to treat our kids? then no harm done, fifi was asking where she may be able to get these things cheaper not she cant afford them and NEEDS to get them cheaper.

it is also valid points that kids need to know the value of money so going halves on things they want is a brilliant thing to do to teach them.which op is also doing with her son

sorry to go on there...struck a cord with me!
appreciate what you have got x

Good for them, it should be a national policy, this would put a stop to all of this so called " designer " nonsense in schools, once and for all.

Spot on - it's moronic for schools to allow "designer" gear
