Just looking for opinions - how do people feel about staff wearing strappy sundresses in customer facing public sector role (ie Jobcentre, Council etc)? Ok, or not? I can't tell if I'm just being old fashioned, but I find it not right somehow?

I would say inappropriate for a public facing role.0 -
Personally, I don't think strappy dresses or tops are professional work wear.
I would expect dresses to be only an inch above the knee maximum and shoulders to be covered sufficiently to cover bra straps.
How about a shift dress instead?:hello:0 -

What is your objection? I fail to see the problem.0 -
It is up to your employer to dictate what is appropriate. If I had my way I'd show up to work in my knickers everyday.
Your boss sets the boundaries.0 -
I wouldn't have a problem with it. Particularly in this heat. In December it might look a bit silly.
In my opinion what a person looks like or wears has no bearing on their ability to do a job.0 -
I think some people don't have a mirror, wearing skimpy tops and short shirts is fine if you have the figure for it if not cover up please, Personally I think it's inappropriate to wear skimpy clothes in a work setting unless you are a cocktail waiter/waitress.0
