What is wrong with seeing a bra strap?
"Civil servant wearing bra scandal" ;)

Bras are underwear and as such should not be on show in any situation and definitely not when dealing with the public.

There is a difference between a bit of strap and a load of cleavage!

We are talking about a bra strap, not a bra and a pair of knockers on display. I fail to see the problem, the wearing of a bra is hardly a secret!

I will never understand the need for people's underwear to show, it is slovenly to me and I would be mortified if mine was on show.

You have such an issue over a small bit of bra strap showing? How on earth that amounts to 'slovenly' is beyond me! My t shirts have a slash neck so they show the top of my straps - I still look perfectly smart.

You refer to a 'need' to show underwear. We are not talking about Justin Bieber and his trousers halfway down his legs, just a woman wanting to wear comfortable clothing on a hot day.

Then you either need to wear a narrower necked top or a wider strapped bra. I don't agree that it's smart to show any part of a bra. Mine don't show and I can still be comfortable on a hot day.

There is no difference between the two examples to me.

Bra straps on show are an absolute pet hate of mine. I think it looks awful but you see it more than more. I've even seen people wearing backless outfits with a bra and it just looks awful. That's only happened once in a work environment though and the member of staff did get brought up for not dressing professionally.

Thanks to all who responded with their opinion. I am asking from the point of view of a service user, and would not dream of wearing holiday wear to work myself. I just wondered if it was just me, and it seems not. Thanks again.
