Tree branches

Some help would be appreciated but I don't know if this is the right place to post.
My parents neighbour have cut overhanging branches from their tree. Now where they don't have an issue with this as they know this is acceptable as they were over hanging the neighbours garden what they are not happy is about is the fact they have thrown all the debris back into their (parents) garden. there is quite alot of it which would take a bit of time to clear up and take to the tip. Also they had to trespass on my parents garden to do some of it which they aren'y happy about either
We were under the impression that if you didn't want the tree branches back it was the neighbours responsilbility to dispose of it and not us (ie my parents). Is this true or are we wrong???

I think if you remove overhanging vegetation you are SUPPOSED to give it back to the owner - your parents in this case. Sorry, probably not what you want to hear.[0
-
That's my understanding - said offending branches actually belong to your parents.
The "trespass" is a separate issue. I've no idea what the law says about access to cut down overhanging branches.0 -
But aren't they supposed to ask if you want the branches/vegetation back and if you don't, they should dispose of it?
Can understand its my parents tree but why should they have to dispose of the branches that they didn't cut down.0 -

Yep, I think that's true. Perhaps a few Irish labourers could move the debris - look up 'tree fellers' on googleMornië utulië0 -
The neighbour cannot dispose of something that they do not own.
Your parents own the tree and therefore the branches....0 -
They must offer the brnches back, could probably argue they tried, your parents weren't in but made a reasonable assumption they would want them back0

If your tree is over hanging my garden and I cut it back, why should I have to dispose of your tree?0

Ok we were obviously wrong.
Just doesn't seem right that you can stand on a shed and lean over to your neighbours garden and cut a tree and then through it all back for you to dispose of but if thats the law thats the law0 -
Wait until the neighbour hangs out a line of washing then make a fire of the lopped branches...Mornië utulië0

No, you are right. they must OFFER the branches back, but they can argue that your parents weren't available to ask...0
