Do gas power stations help our environmental crusade in the long term?

    Is gas infinite?

Is power generation just part of the problem isn't their a problem moving it about too?

    in the long term
the sun will turn into a red giant in about 5 billion years time

presumably you have stopped using any fossil fuels either directly or indirectly and are happy to leave it unused until the sun evaporates the earth?

I don't have an affordable alternative to use. That is the problem.

As you didn't comment on whether gas stations are detrimental environment do I take it they are.

Makes you wonder why we bother insulating our homes and cutting back consumption really. Have you seen the price of energy efficient bulbs too even those old CFL things. Makes me think someone is having a laugh at our at our expense.

People have been detrimental to the 'environment' (whatever that means) for the last 1 million years

in fact ever since the first great pollution living organisms have changed the environment

you can easily reduce your own impact on the 'environment' if you wished but like everyone else you don't actually bother

but that's OK because it isn't your fault because other people haven't found a solution yet

You are wrong I have done what I can to reduce our environmental footprint as far as is reasonably practicable and affordable to live in this mad world.

As I am not a scientist I am unlikely to find a solution. As a taxpayer and one who pays over the odds to energy companies for "green initiatives" I would like to see greater visible and tangible movement in affordable alternatives, that wash their face, for the many. I am not sure heavily subsidising inefficient generation systems is necessarily a good use of resources.

Sadly our politicians only look as far forward as the next ballot box.

I assume by what 'reasonably practicable and affordable' means things like enjoying all the 'normal' middle normalities like a warm home, car, holidays, world wide food provision, electricity, gas etc etc

in fact just like everyone else

Why are you still here then?
By your existence you are leaving an environmental footprint. Or do you believe, like the rest of us, that our continued survival is of unquestionable priority?

Reasonably practicable affordable means not adding triple glazing when I have double glazing or moving to A+++ device from an A+ one when it is still perfectly functional.

Yes I do. WIthout them I wouldn't function in the society that has been created. I am not a tree hugger but do endeavour top minimise energy consumption. Do you bother?
