I read an interesting point that claimed some expert somewhere has been predicting imminent peak oil for every one of the last 100 years.

Even when it does arrive it will not be an issue at all because on the approach to it we will simply switch over to alternatives because there will be a huge market for such.

    Gloom mongers have no perspective.

I often created fun of the doomers knocking on about this on here as ever they get it all incorrect advancing. Even when it does run out nothing harsh will occur, we will basically style a different upcoming and oil will be just a feet observe in our record centuries from now.

Yes, and it's the same with other resources running out. All we will do is learn to live without or produce synthetic alternatives, life goes on, no big drama to get yer knickers all twisted in.

UK is heading for power shortages, peak oil or not. So bigger short term threats to face.

Due to poor planning and NIMBY culture.

Not to mention a lack of expertise and finance.

We don't have the money now, but the last government had the opportunity and money to sort this out. Instead the money was spent on bigger government, welfare and war.

Why is it a government issue?

Electricity is a private cartel and with private profits (?).

Planning future energy needs is a governemnt task, if that requires money to be spent on infrastructure then that is their job also.
