car was taxed. as it had been paid for online and takes up to 5 days to arrive
you also have a 14 day allowance for car tax (if you read your tax form).0 -
Now might be a good time to change your username Scott"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money"0

My sister lives in what sounds like a similar development with a similar parking-arrangement. Difference is that there are about 20 garages which most of the leaseholders choose not to use except for storage, and park on the street instead.
The interfering busybody lives next door and has taken it upon himself to be the parking enforcer as well as the self-appointed landscaping monitor. He's beginning to focus on everyone's wheelie-bins as well now.
The only way to deal with such people is not to engage with them, as this only emboldens them further. Next thing you know he'll be trying to start a ruckuss about your choice of curtains. As my sister has discovered.0 -
To be anal the car should be off the road even if the tax is in the post.
Not so, if you buy online, the car is legal from the moment you pay. Even police ANPR cameras won't flag as as DVLA show it as taxed.
I am not sure about the 14 days grace period though as thought that has been scrapped and they can still do you for failure to display a valid tax disc if they visually check the car in the 14 day period, particularly if you have not yet paid online. You will also find that in that supposed "14 day grace" you would probably find your insurance is void, as most policies require the vehicle to be taxed and MOT'd to be valid.
OP I think you need to get a life. The busybody may be annoying, but had best interest of you and other residents by tackling an apparent "illegitimate" vehicle in the parking area. If you want to be childish enough to escalate the issue then fine, but the only way to deal with these people is to rise above it, knowing you are in the right and not give them any more bait. Stooping to their level is playing right into their hands ... as you have found out.0 -
In my opinion it is not all bad having a busy body with time on his or her hands who checks out the unusual visiter or the unthinking neighbour.
In all the apartment blocks I have lived in there has always been one and if you are polite and play by the rules they are more an ally then an enemyThere will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
anyone got any better ideas how to deal with this fool.
