    @bsms1147, thanks.
Since tomorrow is my paying day for the rent and I have to decide whether to pay for internet or not, could you please give a link to this offer so that you are speaking about (one of 3' new contract) so that I can tell tomorrow to the landlord that I am not going to pay for internet anymore?
Sorry for being so not well organized!

    Do you mean this one?

If yes, I see that they only offer contract with a limited amount of GB of data.
Is there any flatrate with unlimited amount of GB-download?

get a pay and go dongle and top that up as needed, I used a t-mobile when I changed suppliers as my router had died and waiting for new one was a month,

I paid £30 - tmobile - had 3 months data allowance, then if I wanted to continue I just topped up, - from memory £10 for 2 weeks, or £14 gets you 4 weeks of use.

A 30 day rolling contract may be better, but if your going to go over your allowance, the bills can add up, so hence why i used a pay and go x

You want a 'phone' contract, but only need it for the internet component. Dedicated 'mobile broadband' contracts are unnecessary and overpriced.

    http://store.three.co.uk/view/searchTariff?deviceType=SIM_ONLY&priceplan=PAY_MONTHLY

    Scroll down to:
The One Plan 1 month SIM.

    All-you-can-eat data
    2000 minutes
    5000 texts
    5000 Three-to-Three minutes
Tethering is when you connect your phone to other devices to use it as a modem so they can access the internet.

If you're on The One Plan you can use the internet when you're out and about with other devices including laptops, tablets and games consoles, just by connecting them through Wi-Fi or USB to your phone. You can tether on all our One Plan tariffs including our one month rolling SIM plan.

Then get a cheap android phone for it to go in. You can then use the internet by connecting to this phone via USB cable or wirelessly.

    Thanks again guys!
Just to clarify: as far as I have understood, i would need a mobilephone to which I could then connect my pc or my pcs via bluetooth in order to surf.
I do not have any modern smartphone but an old nokia n82 which would be enough since it has also a wirefire and I sometimes uses it to surf. But that would mean:
    1) I have to use a new simcard, that is a new telephone number (since I have lareday bought a card of o2) in order to surf
    2) without the aid of the mobile it would not work.
So, sorry for being so silly and not thinking about the fact that of course no usb could work as modem without any connection to the phone line or a mobile line!!

It seems that I havve to remain with these stupid conditions!

Cheapest new USB modem is this model from T-Mobile for £9.99.

Best unlocked and used with one of these

There are many other options, dependent on the amount of data that you are likely to use.

    thanks.
So the first link shows that there exist are usb-modems. But why did you show me in the second link a sim-card.
    Just to sum up.
Would I need a mobile phone in order to be able to surf or would that usb modem be enough?
Since my girlfriend lives with me, would it be possible to connect both pcs with that usb modem?
Sorry, you might have noticed that I am not an expert and I apologize for bothering you with silly questions but I need an explanation for dummies:rotfl:

The data package is on the SIM that goes into the Dongle. The recommended SIM has relatively inexpensive data for when it comes to PAYG. 30 day contracts offer better value. Such as these which allow you to share your connection by creating a WiFi Hotspot.

Thank you. So, but of course there is always a limited amount of datas.
Not that I necessarily want to download all the time, but just in case :-) .
Not to mention the fact that we would be two people surfing at the same time.
By the way, the most important reason why I was thinking of finding an alternative to the internet of my landlord was because of the bad connection via skype. But i do not understand. Maybe it is not because of the internet. I have just checked the speed and the result was 9000.
so it is not marvellous but it should be enough for skyping.
I have logged in to skype and just checked the connection. It is always red.

I think I need some sleep...
So tomorrow when the landlord comes to collect the money, I do not know what to say....
    Uff...

i'm not technical - so dont understand about tying phones up, from my understanding you want your internet connection,
I use a dongle for travelling as I don't like paying for the "hotel / sites" wifi and there not secure connections,

I would say buy the t-mobile dongle from Argos £9.99 - you have to buy a £10 minumium top up - if you buy £15 this will give you 1 months internet useage

    When that ends (before that)
go onto amazon - and get a pre-paid tmobile sim card under £12 - take out the sim card in your dongle, replace with this one, - that gives you 3 months internet - you can top this up at £15 for a month or buy another top up £12 for 3 months - that will do one computer - at that price you could easily buy a spare for your gf x
