I downloaded CCleaner today and I read from other users that after pressing the Analyze button the process would only take a few seconds. That didn't happen with me 20 minutes later it was still working and the bar at the top read 0%. I got concerned by this point and pressed cancel.
Does anyone know what went wrong because it seemed to download successfully.

it could be beacuse it's found a lot of things, or possibly hd is corrupt, which chkdsk c: /F might fix
you could try just doing Run ccleaner instead of analyze, or removing some of the ticks.!!

Thanks for taking the time to reply closed.
I pressed Run and the same thing happened, I am not computer literate so I am not sure what the first part of your reply means. I do have 'Free Internet Eraser' on my computer and I use that frequently.0 -
start,
run
cmd
a black box should come up, in there, type
chkdsk c: /F
checks the hard disk for errors, after a reboot!!

Thanks closed but it's getting too complicated for me to understand now, I think I'll uninstall it and reinstall it another day and see what happens then.0

Thank you that's very helpful, I'll give it a try tomorrow.0

Let it run.... you probably have thousands of items in your internet explorer cache, it will take a considerable time to analyise the directory, together with others. And when you ask it to clear them, it will also take a considerable time.0

Temporary Internet files can be a culprit in delaying scans, especially if you've never deleted them before or only rarely. I'd go into your browser, delete them there, and then re-run CCleaner.0
