Royalities, royalities royalties
not really, as they are run on different hardware with a different OS. PS3 doesn't just block PC games from work, they physically dont work because they are in the wrong format0 -
I use a continuous ink system (http://www.cityinkexpress.co.uk/ciss/ciss-for-hp-printers). It's a bit of a faff to install, but it does work, and aside from constantly being told the cartridges are low on ink, it's no trouble.
But with 400ml ink refills for about £23, it's a lot cheaper. The same amount of ink in HP cartridges would set you back as much as £800.
I really don't understand why only a small minority of printer owners use this system.
I've had it on my Canon for almost a year now - used about half the ink !0 -
Printer manufacturers use the razor blades model of pricing - handle is free as long as they can milk you on overpriced blades for life. That's what fuels the silly 5 blade vibrating trimming blahblah war between Gilette and Wilkinson Sword.
CISS are great I used to use one in an old Epson, however the newer HP's just won't tolerate them - they spend all the money on restricting you from using anything other than their own unicorn tear cartridges. As a rule, they cheaper the printer, the costlier the inks.0 -
As others have said.
printers are loss leaders, the profit is made on the ink and offical paper supplies.
Buy cheap printer in the future, when the included ink runs out buy a new printer.0
