Summer months affect digital signal

I understand that atmospheric conditions in the summer does have an affect on TV reception. I lose several Freeview channels (pixellation, weak signal, no signal etc). No problem during winter months. I am only about 50 miles away from the Sandy Heath transmitter. I guess the problem lies with my, not so old, aerial. The aerial does serve 4 points in the house. Boosters attached make no difference. Could the solution be to replace the aerial with one with more elements and a higher gain? Thanks for any advice/opinion.

it could be the aerial or the weather, but it could be something simpler have you bought any wireless or radiation emitting devices recently e.g. homephone, internet router, microwave or mobiles ?0

I had some dodgy pixellation recently and missing Freeview channels. Hadn't considered it was the good weather. Followed these instructions for a factory reset and it's been fairly fine (just had a minimal loss of signal for a few seconds yesterday).
I recently did have a new aerial put on, so felt it couldn't be that (was the big one, perhaps unnecessary, but the same one that my neighbour who used to run the local TV shop has, so felt they would know the best thing to have)

You may need to clear your box or TV's 'memory' and retune again to find all the available channels.- Switch off the equipment and unplug the aerial.
- Switch on the equipment again and go through the retuning process, as above. Your TV should then display a message that no channels have been found. (This is because the aerial is not plugged in.)
- Switch off the equipment, plug the aerial back in and switch on again.
- Repeat the retuning process - this should find all the channels available.

Thanks for the comment. Can't blame any of them. Had them all for years!0 -

Thanks for that info. Happy to try all solutions!0 -
If you are 50 miles from Sandy Heath, then the chances are that you are within 50 miles of another transmitter. Have a look at other aerials in your area to see which direction they point.
It is quite common in towns that are midway between two transmitters, that aerials point in opposite directions.
You would obviously have to retune your TV set.0 -
The summer weather has brought tropospheric propogation, causing interference from transmitters hundreds of miles away. If that's your problem, the only possible remedy is to aim your aerial at a different transmitter (if there is one).
In your case the symptoms do suggest this problem. However, the heat may be affecting a cable connection - especially if you have a masthead amplifier.
Retuning is generally a bad idea under these conditions. If you do retune, wait till at least late evening.

It was fine after the factory reset retune. I clearly wouldn't have posted the suggestion if it hadn't been.0
