This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all:j:j
I hope your all well and that you have been able to get some sleep last night with the heat,

Twin One and my wife are still asleep . Twin two and myself are up,
Today the twin are off to Sunday school, They are all off over the park today for a bit Fun.
The twins after Sunday school will be off to my Wife's Mums and Dads and then they shall go and see there great grand parents.
Dinner today for my wife and I is Roast brisket, I think we will have it late tonight after the twins are In bed. If we decide thats we are too hot to have a roast then we will have the roast brisket cold with salad. we shall cook the brisket this afternoon.
When My wife gets back from church we have that Book case from Argos to git together and then fill it with there books.
We have a lovely;y clean kitchen this morning thanks to me:j:j
While my wife went to choir yesterday afternoon to get ready for there concert last night. The twins wonted to have Mary popping s on the TV, We have the film on our sky hard drive.
We there was no way I wonted to see that for the one millionth time! so I clean the kitchen up while it was on, So it all clean now.:T:T

Well I hope that you all have a great day, Enjoy the sun everyone :j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Morning Halight and all to follow,
Have been up since 6.30 could not sleep, its scorching here already :T, loving this heat, its really about time we had a decent amount of good weather.
The garage sale went really well yesterday, we only made £30 but it was only the first one , we will do it again next year, we are going to do a boot sale soon to try and get rid onf the rest of the stuff, anything that does not sell will then be given to charity. By the time we were packed up after I was so hot I went and laid on the bed to cool off there was not a breath of air at all.
Last night we went to the local festival which was simply brilliant there was about 6 bands, a hog roast, ice creams etc, we took our own booze, set up a blanket and sat chatting and watching the bands, there were loads of people there and free range childrenwho were able to have a good run about it was a 'safe' place in the middle of a field in the middle of nowhere, we will be going next year it was a brilliant evening.
Got the wm on the go and another to follow, will get them both on the line, dd has a day off today, so we will probably go and see my dad.
My mum gave us one of those chinese meals for two which she had bought for my brother but he wont eat, so i may nip to the shop and get a few top up bits for veggie dd and we can have that for dinner, so nice and easy, its far too hot for a roast for me, I think I would melt cooking it !!
Have good days all xx0 -
I love the idea of 'free range children ' so many places seem to dislike kids and frown at them.My dd has four lads still at home and they love roaming around when we go out to the beach or the park.Children are an expensive blessing but give so much pleasure it outweighs anything else.
Today is the anniversary of my late OH passing, and both of my Dds will be here this morning to celebrate their Dad whom we all adored. We will have lots of laughter and tell silly anecdotes about the main man in their lives(and mine) and we don't get down or sad as we are all happy that we knew and had him in our lives for so long.
We sit and chat about old times and its definitely a celebration of his life .I was lucky enough to have been married to him for almost 40 years and never regretted once a single day.
Then this afternoon I will go to my youngest Dds as I do every Sunday and play with my grandsons.
I think dinner tonight will be BBQ and salad as its far too hot for a roast.Tomorrow I have knitting club which is nice and I have a big bag of stuff that my friend gave me for the charity that we knit for The Blytheswood Trust lots of knitted baby stuff and blankets .Right time I got a wriggle on as I have biscuits to make for this mornings coffee fest
Cheers everyone Have a great day no matter what you are doing

Morning Halight, JackieO and Redruby and all who follow,
Redruby The festival sounds great.
Molly Great news on the hospital date but I can understand your nerves.
Hilstep, LW Hugs.
Hot here and we are in the midst of cricket fever!
DD1 due back from Belgium later.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Good morning everyone
Looks like it's another hot and sunny day.
Why do plants die and weeds thrive is my question of the day. Despite care, feeding and watering, I have lost some of my herbs including a large rosemary bush I have had for years. Yet the weeds are appearing by the minutes and as fast as I blitz them, more appear.
DH is trying to persuade me that we need an ice cream machine. I do love ice cream and can't eat it at the moment due to low carb diet. He sees this as an opportunity to cajole me into new gadget with promise of low carb ice cream on tap! Do we need it? No. Does he want it? Will he win? Watch this space .....
GDD was really funny yesterday, I arrived to take her for a walk on the beach but she was in her large new paddling pool with one of her friends and did not want to move. I ended up sitting there with DH and judging a hold your breath under water competition that went on and on. Kids loved it, daughter even jumped in the pool and joined in, the rabbits played around the edge of the pool and cooled off under the over spilled water. Free fun is often the best and only spend was £1 for 8 fruit split lollies from Mr T, I dread to think how much it would have been per individual lolly at the beach.
Doing some ebay sorting for listing later, didn't realise it was another free listing weekend so will make the most of it. A couple of things to pack up for posting tomorrow too.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants one. Keep well and safe and have a super sunny SundayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning :hello:
We planted pumpkin seeds, they had other ideas and have decided to produce marrows :rotfl: I refuse to take any responsibility for the mix-up

Little Timmy was too hot yesterday, I aimed the fan at his cage to keep him cool. I don't know why he insists on staying in there, it's too warm. His cage is really his dining room and bedroom, he has the run of the hall and kitchen, his cage is left open all day. He's very clean and tidy and never pees on the floor, he jumps back in his cage and heads for the same corner when he needs to go
I try not to waste water in the garden, we use rainwater from the barrels for the greenhouse and the hosepipe on the veg patch. But the barrels are almost empty and the garden was just too dry so I got the sprinkler out and left it running all evening.
Master tru has a van :j Our friend has a garage, he doesn't sell vehicles, he's a mechanic. But he's built up a good customer base and if any regulars want to sell their car he'll let them leave it at his place, and he'll sort out the sale for them. He rang yesterday and said he had the perfect van, so mr and master tru nipped round and bought it. Not being a driver myself, I couldn't tell you details but it was almost perfect condition and the woman is a dog groomer who only works locally so it's low mileage. She'd boarded out the inside so it's great for his tools. He came straight home, insured it online and went out for a long driveHe's been driving work vans for a few years but as soon as he got behind the wheel of his own van, I was worrying :rotfl:
Mr tru has the week off work so I won't get much done. He's already talking about a B&B on Dartmoor for a couple of nights, then a few days out at various places. I feel tired already, lol. One place we will definitely be visiting is Cotswold Wildlife Park, they have a new baby rhino and I can't wait to see him. And penguins, I love penguins

Morning all
redruby the festival sounds fab
So hot , I was up early to get some jobs done before it becomes too hot. Yesterday we were moving dd1 from uni halls to a house , I was wet through packing, carrying box after box and then unpacking, not to mention scrubbing and bleaching the new house  looks a lot better now though .
Pizza dough base made for tonight's tea as its the DDs favourite ( obviously I will put some toppings on it later lol ), chicken and new potatoes for DH as he doesn't really like pizza
The washer is doing its 3rd wash of the day and I have a huge pile of ironing to do , so should get started own that who lists not too hot
Have a lovely day xx0 -

Morning all,
Didn,t get to sleep till 3am, made the mistake of having a coffee about 1030 and a combination of caffine and heat meant I could not drop off.
Was up and busy by 730 another load of washing done, kitchen cleaned, just having a quick break before I crack on with the lounge and bathroom.
Home grown new potato,s with YS pork chops and colslaw for dinner.
Will do the ironing tonight when it cools down, was supposed to do it yesterday evening and didn,t get round to it.
Have a fab day all xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Good morning all,
Cloudy here today. I think it is supposed to be like that on and off for most of the morning and then sunshine for the afternoon.
Washing is out on the line, another load in the machine.
Hubby has just gone to bed, he got in at about 7.30 this morning, night shift.
No real plans again. General housework. Hubby will cut the grass later, when he gets up.
Dinner will be roast chicken with hg potatoes and veg. We won't be having that until dd gets home from work at about 5 o' clock.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.
