primrose valley holiday park

Hi guys

we will he traveling via public transport to filey then getting a taxi to the park. what is the easiest to access eaterie points on foot near the park for us as a family, there are five of us. Previous times at the haven sites have taught us that the onsite facilities can be a total rip off and we will be doing everything that we can to avoid spending any money on these facilities during the day, esp the arcades, thus have planned trips out of the park on a daily basis with possible. Any tips on places to eat and low cost days out would be most appreciated

i have just got back from there and the site is huge so my advice would be to take bikes/scooters if possible. where we were we had a 25 minute walk to the main entertainment complex. We shopped at tescos and made our own meals in the caravan. Good days out are peasholm park in scarborough (chip shop opposite park is highly recommended by the guy who does boat trips in the park and it was the best fish I think I have tasted) bridlington and filey are also nice. You can walk quite easily from the park along the beach to filey. Have fun :)

You can get a bus to Scarborough, and Whitby from outside the park.

The shops sells Pizza's, chicken salad etc that you can cook in caravan and would be much cheaper than eating out.

Im going to try and eat out where possible for the simple fact that I cant cook and the o.h. spends the week looking after our kids, one of whom is autistic and can be very demanding and hard at times to look after. Are there any relatively affordable places to eat out of. Apparently there is some sort of hotel outside the park that serves good food? this is a learning curve for me as i don't know that part of the country very well

You do have to pay for the fair on site - cant remember the prices as we did not go on it....

I don't recall a hotel outside the park ....but maybe others will??

Sorry to but in on the thread, but can anyone recommend a fish and chip shop on a Sunday evening? We're going to Flamingo Land during the day, but my mum's got a bee in her bonnet about visiting Scarborough afterwards (staying in the Travelodge, yes I know, we've seen the reviews!).

Get a supermarket to do a home delivery to the caravan/site a few hours after you expect to have arrived.

If you have a day at Bridlington make sure you check out the southcliff hotel. Excluding the cost of drinks we fed 3 adults and 5 children for £20. At that price I was expecting the food to be a bit stingy and not the best but the portions were huge and we really couldn't fault the food! I took the kids on the flight simulator at the park and it was £10 for 5 of us. I think the boat hire etc was about the same price. You can hire family size bike things on site but I would advise against this as most people I watched doing this ended up getting off to push as they were so heavy! Make the most of the free taster sessions for things like swimming which will be given to you on the entertainment list when you arrive. Make sure you book up everything you want as soon as poss as the free sessions are quickly booked up. I didnt make use of them this time but have booked free swimming lessons in the past for the kids and they were quite good.
