That's a lovely one. It seems to fit your sentiments OP, be within budget and also include the ruby.0 -

All of the items above are £105 so sort of the price range you were looking at.

Well yeah it does have to be ruby - because - well as I say its her birthstone.
No-one has ever done anything like that before - i went looking to find out what her birthstone was - and im not sure even she knows.
Can you imagine the impact of that when your boyfriend gets you something with your birthstone on it - and you didnt even know what it was and he told you it was.
lol so yeah it has to be ruby - limiting or not lol

Does she like the colour of rubies? My birthstone is peridot and I hate it, I'm not a fan of green and the shade of peridot particularly doesn't appeal to me. Just a thought!0

perhaps this one might be a little over budget....but it does look very pretty

I relly like the flower shaped one you first chose though!0 -
You sound like a very sweet boyfriend, but its unlucky her birthstone is one of the more expensive ones! My advice as a jewellery lover myself is don't get too hung up on the idea of getting her birthstone. Like the poster above I'm not keen on my own birthstone and don't own any jewellery with it in. Can you get any hints to what her favourite stone or style might be? I actually have the double heart Tiffany necklace someone posted above and it's a very cute necklace for a girlfriend, albeit silver.
Does she wear any jewellery at all? What colours/styles?0 -
The problem you have is that rubies are one of the more expensive stones and gold is one of the more expensive metals.
Realistically, £100 will not get much if you stick to rubies in gold.
You need to consider:
Yes, you can get a pendant on a chain BUT the chain will be very thin (therefore more fragile - if it breaks, it could get lost).
The pictures online are very magnified - the pieces themselves will be small in that budget and you may be disappointed when you see them in the metal.
I don't think you should get too hung up on the birthstone idea... your GF has never felt the need to find out what her stone is so it may not be as important to her as the fact that you had thought of doing something special for her.
As an aside, is your GF quite petite, average of a larger lady? The jewellery you choose needs to be in proportion... make sure the chain is long enough... for instance 16" chains could be tight on some ladies. Also, when choosing, visualise how it will look when worn... too small and it could look lost or too large and it could overwhelm.:hello:0 -
Lol well the problem I have is I cant ask her because then she would guess what it is!

Could you perhaps discretely ask some friends of hers on Facebook? Or introduce her to Pinterest, and see what style she starts pinning!
I wouldn't necessarily rule out buying it with her input though. How about picking out a couple locally and taking her with you to make the final choice? My OH did this when he bought me a watch, and I was glad - one of the watches he'd picked out was very lovely but just didn't suit me at all, it was far too delicate to match my clothing style, and just didn't look right on my wrist. The other choice was fab though and I still love it years on
It wasn't the complete surprise he originally planned (he got too impatient!) but it saved him spending out on something that just didn't suit me, regardless of my taste. 0
