Unusual problem with car dealership

As an example, this;
2012 design, not a rehash of a 2004 car
Much longer warranty (7 years)
Chain driven engine (not sure if 1.6TDi is or not?)
Infinitely more reliable
Proper rear suspension (many lower spec Golf's get a budget setup, so I read?)
Good looking car that gets great reviews
There are many other alternatives of course, as I say, just an example.
Cheers for the advise! Will give it some consideration!:)0 -
OP if they have told you that a one year old auto is from their HireCar division (now Car Rental, strange to rebrand a huge part of the organisation, must have been hiding another financial fiasco) they have done you a massive favour. AC keep their cars on fleet for hire for specific mileages, not age and whereas their economy hires will reach the limit in a few months, the less popular cars can be on fleet for up to 18 months. The real dogs of the litter in the hire fleet are the autos. Tend to have had far more drivers at the wheel, hired by foreign visitors and worst of all, people who just cannot drive, but need a car and get something at this level for an essential journey. AC have an excellent fettling crew, but I have yet to see a small to medium sized auto from them that hasn't had a disproportionate amount of damage for its age. Also they are self-insuring, you will not be able to independently check their status.

What is the difference between an ex fleet and a ex hire if you don't mind me asking?
Both are likely to have been thrashed, as the drivers were not the owners. Fleet cars are purchased by companies because they need daily transport for things like reps on the road. As such they do high mileage, but are serviced on schedule. You wouldn't expect hire cars to do such high mileage in a short time, but the hire companies would rather have them on the road than in a workshop being serviced. They unload them after a year or so, as customers expect pretty new models.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
