He's said it for a few months and never thought anything of it. :/ Is there any other context and is there a website where I can prove its racist x

    Definition #2

It'll be widely recognised by senior management over 40-50ish years old anyway.

Yes. And unpleasantly so. Sounds harmless - but is anything but. Sorry if you've encountered this in a derogative context OP. :(

Can it be racist if the OP is not a minority?

    WHAT?!?! Yes, of course!

I'm white and English and I find it to be a VERY offensive and disrespectful term.

OK, that's fair enough sweetie. Being "a bit fuzzy" IS being ditzy. Being called a "fuzzy wuzzy" equates, to the best of my knowledge, to being termed a "golliwog".

But it sounds like xCarlyx has a number of problems with a complete dolt of a colleague - and I suspect that this is one of several, if not many, instances.

Carly - you are, as you say, very young and I think you might well need better advice than we can offer on here. Are you in a Union at work? If not, then I think it would be a very good idea to make an appointment with an employment adviser at your local Citizen's Advice Bureau before you do or say anything at work. Here's the relevant part of the website, it will also help you to find out where your nearest office is for a one to one appointment:- http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/work_e/work_discrimination_e.htm

Good luck sweetie. Hope all turns out for the best for you. xx

Thank goodness! It shows how attitudes to race have moved on since the 1970's, and I am so glad they have.

I think you are right and thinking on this I do believe as Paddy says it shows how far it has come since its racist tones because it wasn't even near being racist to myself but it obviously was before my time.

I'm still not sure whether the guy meant it racistly or ditzily but I agree that there are other issues for the OP with this person and that recording of incidents are a must.
