i'm 8 months into my contract and three have offered me a free nokia E65 with about 600 texts (minutes not important to me) for £20/month (12 month contract ending next august). can anyone offer opinions? i like the idea of wi-fi as i will be using skype while overseas.

I have 9 months and they offered me the same but for £15 a month (12 month contract) or E65 for £25 pm.
I decided to wait until I have 11 months to see if is there any better offer, but I will call them again now...

Well 3 did yesterday, and it was for a 12 month contract.

However, the guy on the other end said he would ring her back within half an hour,as the offer was only available for a further 1hr58mins.

They did ring back, but the wife missed it the first time, but the second time she rang them back but got no answer, why I don't know,so it may mean she misses out on the deal, although knowing 3,I doubt it.

i went for the upgrade, i'm going to see what the phone is like but i think it's a good deal. the E65 is pretty advanced (wifi, symbian OS) and £20/month is a bargain for this phone and 750 texts a month - i use about 500 at the moment.

i like 3 a lot so i'dlike to stay with them, especially since i have the 30mb free internet allowance which is now discontinued. theoretically i should get some of the benefits of x-series e.g. an internet allowance, without actually paying for it. the coverage is also a lot better than other networks in my area.

yeah, i could have got much cheaper line rental with a lower spec phone but as i have a 6280, a 6288 wouldn't have been a worthwhile upgrade, especially since the new phone has to last me for over a year.

i also thought it was amazing to get offered an upgrade so early!! good on them though.
  • Hi Circuit,
I'm probably over-cautious but are you certain that your new contract is directly from '3', as there are some dealers who call people and offer 'upgrades' which are actually new contracts, leaving you with 2 contracts to pay?
