New idea from Parking Eye?

Hi
Went to my local opticians today. Parked in their car park, noticing the sign about 'customers only' ...blah, blah, blah £100 ...etc. When I went in the assistant asked me if I drove in, which I confirmed. She asked me to put my car reg into a machine so that PE don't invoice me! Never come across this before. I asked why and she said to stop non-customers parking. Now, next door to the opticians there is a KFC (with its own car park), next to them there is KwikFit (people are not going to go there and leave their car elsewhere!). Opposite is a big Asda store with their own free (for a limited time!) car park, above and alongside the shop. I really cannot see why non-customers would want to park at the opticians, particularly as there are no other shops nearby!
Anyway, is this screen thing new?
I have been away for awhile and notice the advice is now not to ignore PPC but to appeal. Why is this? Can they prosecute you if you ignore their invoices? Is there a 'sticky' relating to this?
Thanks.

Not new but it all looks good to the prospective client, typical solution to a problem that does not exist.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I have heard that they have this in some ALDI stores. Some people have fell foul of this when they have made a mistake entering their number and have received the usual threatening letters from PE.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

I don't know who runs the Travelodge car parks but come across this system quite frequently with that type of place for a while now.

Completely pointless - from the point of view of managing parking, that is. The ONLY reason for this is to catch people out who don't play their utterly ridiculous game, or get it wrong, so they can send out invoices.0

So will someone please tell me why the advice is no longer ignore but to appeal?Thank you for reading this message.0

1 - Parking Eye are taking some people to court
2 - Appealing to POPLA costs Parking Eye money
Can you let me know where the car-park is so I can park my Polish 'registered' vehicle there for a laugh to see what Parking Eye will try and do.0 -

It is Boots Opticians in Colindale, NW London. However if you have to make a special journey to prove the point it may cost you more in petrol that the invoice !!
But the old advice of ignoring their letters is costing them to send them out to no avail. You would surely have to waste your time and money appealing to POPLA.Thank you for reading this message.0 -
POPLA costs nothing to you, bar the cost of a couple stamps0

Even if you loss, it's not blinding on you. All they can do is "recommend" you pay, if you don't the PPC still has to do court.
And a well-written POPLA appeal is enough0
