Although they will charge as much as they can, Almost double seems rather excessive.0 -
I was forced to go to National Tyres because of a puncture recently, as I needed to use the car the day after. NT bargain price for one tyre - £161. Web price £101 with £3 fitting and balancing down the local garage. To add insult to injury they f***ed up my locking wheel nut because they used the air gun to tighten the bolts. So rip-off merchants and morons.0

This could make for an interesting comparison.
If the OP were to post the exact brand and tyre size they were interested in we could have a quick check and see what we come up with.
Over to you Mr J Joyce.
Sorry for the delay - been at the seaside today!
Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance - 195/60VR15 V88
Actually the verbal quote of £250 was based on my asking for 'Goodyear Efficient Grip' (the older version) which I already have on my rear wheels. I doubt this makes any difference to the quote. That older model is still available but it's a similar price, and they may actually have quoted me for the Performance version anyway.0 -
Yes - £74.90 each at several different suppliers That's for 'V' speed rated tyres.
They are £10 each less if you have them 'H' speed rated.
You got a good deal - I can't find better.
Anyone else?0 -
Mine were £74.50 each from Tyre Shopper so £149 total - sorry I should have been more exact in my original post.0

example 205/55R16 budget we charge £54 all in we buy them in at £30 + vat each.
Interesting figures - does this mean there's more profit in premium tyres than budget and mid range?0 -

Same all round really. The suppliers I use allow me £20-£30, but that could be on a £70 tyre or a £270 one.
TBH, its a lot easier round my way to sell part worn tyres. For example,
255/35/19 brand new mich pilot 2 is around £230 fitted
same one part worn, around 4mm of tread is £60 fitted.
its the same amount of profit, around £25, although we sell as many part worns as we do new which allows us to stock six to seven times more. Good business but more an add-on to my existing bodyshop and service centre than standalone.0 -
So if the garage get £50 for fitting my two tyres, that means the suppliers get either £100 or £200 depending on the price I pay. I wonder why they would accept such a massive shortfall in revenue just because it's an online order?0
