I can't see Honda using cheap plastic internal components like the French and German's do to be honest - don't forget they have the reputation of building pretty much the World's most bullet-proof engines.

Actually I thought that was Volvo and Toyota to be honest. Sure Honda do make great engines but they're not indestructible. You'll see a few posts here on this forum about Hondas and engine troubles but you'll see far fewer volvo related posts IMO.

wel going to see my mate tomorrow he is writing a letter to honda. all i know so far is that they deffinatly did not adivse him to change the tensioner and that the tensioner now failing is what caused the transformation from engine to paper weight. and they have kindly let him keep the courtsey car free of charge for a few days wich strikes me as very generous considering they have done nothing wrong apparantly

That's the reason for taking a car to the dealer is that they know what they are doing and stand by it.

Don't bank on it. When I was ringing around for a service price on my S2000, 2 out of 3 local dealers quoted for a cambelt change.

The engine is chain driven
