Who knows, this one is always a poor carer with mental health issues, rich controlling ex, who supports her and still gets benefits.

They bait - like their current situation that they claim (used to be income support) now esa with spousal support.

Even according to their last post -someone reported them as living with someone. They spent weeks before seeking advice on what to do about a controlling ex who comes into the home, expects to be fed, washed clothing etc, then claims malicious reporting whilst openly admitting they get spousal maintenance which would remove their award, yet the friendly compliance offer didnt ask poor ole her that question.

Would be funny if I didn't think they did have issues (particularly around alcohol/susbstnce abuse).

He could have serious mental health issues if he had to have electric therapy. This can cause memory problems afterwards. I have a friend who had it done. You can't judge a book by it's cover.

If I report someone online for benefit fraud, can the person I reported trace it back?
NO, and if the person is genuine at least they will be exonerated.

My problem is that have just had a virtual conversation with him, has told me he does not like change, ranted that the government have suddenly run out of money and now think he has to work after over 20 years of 'them telling him he was not fit to work'
Presumably this means he will be moved from a disability benefit to a job seekers benefit.

What more do you want than that?

I think you need to be really, really sure that there is benefit fraud before you take any action.

And I don't mean just your opinion that this guy is capable of work - unless, of course, you have been his GP for the whole time he's been claiming disability benefits.

I think you should read this post very carefully before doing anything:
So what fraud is he actually committing? Sitting on his backside playing games and on Facebook all day while using whatever mental health problems he has as an excuse to vegetate and sponge off the state? Sounds like many benefit claimants I know.

Is he working has an undeclared partner or undeclared savings? If he is just a work shy scrounger or someone with serious mental health problems that is incapable of holding down a job - it isn't fraud.

Is he lying about his medical condition? Are any of us qualified medically to make a judgement on how fit to work he really is?

Not bothered about authorities as this is genuine.

Makes me so angry. He has never worked since school and is now in late 40's

Wasmy first boyfriend at age about 14, and went into a local hospital to have electric shock treatment for depression.

Has never worked since, had the same high level primary education to me, has greater self esteem,

My problem is that have just had a virtual conversation with him, has told me he does not like change, ranted that the government have suddenly run out of money and now think he has to work after over 20 years of 'them telling him he was not fit to work'

Sorry, am livid. He knows how to play the system, this has become his life.He is very fit for work.I know him well as he has confided in me.

He is intelligent, articulate, plays games on facebook all day.

I cannot sit and watch this anymore.

I must be missing something - what 'fraud' are you saying that he has committed? If you mean that he is fit to work but pretends that he isn't, clearly this is no longer the case as he has told you that he has now been deemed fit to work. In which case what are you going to report him for?

Indeed - there is no reportable fraud as far as I can see. Just someone irritated that their ex is moaning about being found fit for work when he believes his mental health problems deem him unfit for work and it is the O/Ps opinion that he isn't medically unfit for work and her ex is using this as an excuse - the O/P of course being medically qualified to make that judgement.
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

Ignorance of mental health issues, my pet hate.

...and the consequences of reporting someone who suffers depression for fraud and all the stress an investigation would bring is enough to make anyone ill?

Sometimes a computer is the only social contact people with MH issues can cope with.

ECT can have lifelong effects on cognition and memory.

Sometimes jealousy seems a motivating factor, but those who feel this way would not accept the illness that goes along with this apparently unacceptable lifestyle - would they?
