Benefit Fraud

If I report someone online for benefit fraud, can the person I reported trace it back?

Not bothered about authorities as this is genuine.

Makes me so angry. He has never worked since school and is now in late 40's

Wasmy first boyfriend at age about 14, and went into a local hospital to have electric shock treatment for depression.

Has never worked since, had the same high level primary education to me, has greater self esteem,

My problem is that have just had a virtual conversation with him, has told me he does not like change, ranted that the government have suddenly run out of money and now think he has to work after over 20 years of 'them telling him he was not fit to work'

Sorry, am livid. He knows how to play the system, this has become his life.He is very fit for work.I know him well as he has confided in me.

He is intelligent, articulate, plays games on facebook all day.

I cannot sit and watch this anymore.

Playing devil's advocate, he sounds like someone that could have mental health problems - seemingly very confident and outgoing, but in reality cannot manage change and spends his days doing nothing fulfilling.

If you report him he will not find out it is you, unless of course you give details that only you would know. However I would be finding out a little more first - is he playing the system or is he putting on an act with you? If the latter, what will an investigation do to him?
  • I have known this guy for a long time, briefly caught up with him in person a few years ago, we live in a small town.

I almost think would be doing him a favour.

How can a fit, able, clever guy expect to live off the state for all their lives?

He lives in housing association property, (not an issue, just trying to give info)

Make him realise that his mindset is wrong, which it is. He has very few mental health problems other than not liking change, panicky when going out of area. He loves sex pistols and was going to a concert and had a panic attack.

I'd make sure before reporting him, as jacques said he could be suffering mental health problems (you did say he suffered depression, do you know his level of severity at all?). Some people with mental health problems hide it well from friends and even family, only their GP and maybe the local mental health practice knowing the true extent of their problems.

Be sure before you do anything, online chat is so impersonal, what seemed like bragging to you could have been desperation in reality. Make sure he wasn't just venting his frustration at the benefit changes to you, because that change could (and does) affect people with health issues.

Oh no not another report a cheat thread, ex Boyfriend to boot.

How can you take the comments of someone who by your own admission, has had serious mental health problems as fact?
He may be trying to put a front on to get back in your life, he may feel ashamed, he could be in an altered state it is a minefield stay well away.

Read it properly. A mental health issue 30 years ago. Get a grip, calm down

He is also remarried and this has nothing to do with relationships
