No axe to grind either way but I cant help thinking of those young men and women going to appear in court over the next few months on various charges connected to the rioting.
Some of them may think in a few years time the best future for them would be to emigrate to another country only for the criminal record they are about to receive coming back to haunt them. Not easy when tensions are high I know but if only these young people would take a step back (literally) and realise the damage they are doing to their own futures in following blindly these barstool generals who are always willing to fight to the last drop of everyone elses blood.
actually their future could be good when you consider that people who bombed and murdered people have done pretty well here ;)

I suspect fear of escalation of violence but how much longer will the authorities allow these thugs (on both sides)to hold the country to ransome? I have it from a good source that there are health and safety reasons why the police won't take on the rioters, just stay behind their vehicles and shields. Maybe the reinforcements need to be brought in from other European countries who would take no prisoners!
no not health and safety reasons just the same reasons why police wear kid gloves with the gangs that terrorise estates all year round!

Now the OO are trying to have another parade with 500 followers through Ardoyne this Saturday, absolutely insane, time they started paying the cost of policing because they know damn it will cause even more trouble.

This is costing us and the English taxpayers millions, sooner or later the English and Welsh are going to say enough is enough of subsidising Northern Ireland and now we have to send our police as well.

This wee province is sliding down in the estimate of the rest of the civilised world every day they must think we are insane at this rate we will end up like a banana republic if were are not already there.

Time for that lot on the hill to start earning their bread and butter and get a grip after all they are top heavy with !!!!!!!!!!s in comparison with the English parliament and the Welsh assembly, their numbers need cutting by half, and they seriously believe they deserve rises of thousands.

Not really a surprise though, is it? I'm sure that certain politicians are rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of media scrutiny and public attention to their wrongdoings being elbowed out of the news. The more that they can poison the well of community relations, the better it is for them in terms of their short term imbroglio.

Marches can be peaceful and non-contentious - and indeed the majority are (or at least are trouble free and tolerated) - but there's clearly an element within a small group of lodges in troubled areas which is cheered on by certain political parties and politicians for their own reasons, who don't seem to realise the longer term damage that they are doing their own cause (and don't seem to care about the immediate damage being done to their communities).

There are also going to be some pretty disastrous long term personal consequences for the youths that will be arrested, charged and convicted over the coming weeks and months but hey - just grist to the mill for the loyal politicos who wrap themselves in the flag.
