Sky agent lied - anything we can do?

Options
So a pushy sales agent persuaded my Dad to sign up for Sky and leave Virgin - I warned him that you couldn't believe a word he said but it was cheaper. Turns out he lied about several things

Box - was supposed to record 1000 hours - no chance!

Told he was getting fibre optic broadband and that it would be as fast as virgin media, um no. Standard broadband and a tenth of the speed.

Of course the agent didn't write any of this down, it was all verbal. Is there actually anything we can do about this?

Did Sky ring him or was this at a shopping centre?

They actually came to his house - I was there in the morning and asked lots of questions trying to trip the guy up. Told him sky broadband was really slow - 'but you're getting fibre optic, it's as fast as virgin', he then went away to let Dad think about it and returned when I wasn't there and signed Dad up then.

This is all heresay unfortunately - neither do they provide fibre either, its the same copper. See out the minimum term and switch acknowledged, as VM will give an ex customer a good deal to bring them back.

Unfortunately it says in the terms and conditions that once equipment has been installed you cannot cancel

Don't think that's right, thought there was a 31 days cooling off period when it comes to TV, give Sky a call

So you have left it slide until after the kit was installed. Had you pointed this out you may have better responses.

umm, considering he thought he was getting fibre optic until the engineer yesterday installed standard broadband and told him to ring sky who THEN informed him that the agent had put through regular and NOT fibre optic - I'm not sure why I'm getting the blame here for letting it slide until kit installed!!

Also considering he has been waiting for two sky call backs during the past week before it was installed which never happened, he might have found out sooner but due to their incompetence, it was too late.

Had I known earlier I certainly would have told him to cancel

This is miss-selling which SKy should take seriously regardless of whether you have a record or not . . . .

Threaten to call in Trading Standards!

When you make a contract verbally it is still binding - even if there is no record of it!!!
I was going to put the name of my plumbing business here so you know what I do should I give out any advice plumbing wise - however apparently I cant do that - go figure!!!!!
New signature - I am a Plumber (I am just not allowed to tell you!)
