Vodafone coverage problems!

After being a T Mobile customer for 7 years I changed to Vodafone a few months ago for a cheaper deal. Can I just add at this point that during those 7 years I never had a problem with a signal anywhere in the country with T Mobile. I left them because in these economic times we are all trying to save a few £ each month and that was all.

It seems I made a bit of a mistake because 3 months into my new Vodafone contract my phone coverage in the CF82 area has gone! I returned from holidays in Cornwall on Monday to discover this, and now its been a full working week without it. I run my own business in this local area. 95% of the work I get in is from people calling my mobile. I can't receive or make calls or texts. There was no prior warning about this from Vodafone.

I have called them 4 times this week and Emailed them once. Nobody can tell me when we can expect to regain coverage in the area. All they do is confirm there is an issue and it is being looked at. They promise to refund me for the time it is down. Big deal! Little compensation having £10 back at the end of the month when I could potentially be losing hundreds or thousands of pounds if customers cannot get hold of me!

My wife took out the same deal as me and her phone doesn't work. In fact nobody with Vodafone in our town has a working phone. A friend tells me that it was down for 5 weeks in 2011!!!! 5 WEEKS!!!!!!! In this day and age this is unacceptable without a reasonable explanation and estimated date for having it back up and running! 2 Vodafone operators this week told me that there is upgrade work taking place, the other 2 said there was a fault and some essential repairs are being carried out. There is no consistency with their responses.

With this in mind and still no joy from Vodafone I asked for my PAC Code earlier with a view to seek a contract with old trusty T Mobile. Then I discover for me and my wife to get out of our contracts now it will cost us a combined total of £718. Vodafone say the matter is out of their hands because it isn't their fault so they will charge the remaining contract. Funny that because its not my fault either but they expect me to pay over 700 quid. When I laughed they told me it would be dealt with by a collections team If I did leave and didn't pay! Surely in court they wouldn't have a leg to stand on? Isn't the bottom line that they are supposed to be supplying a service and simply aren't so they are in breach of contract? I've got it here and am going to read through it this evening. I cannot be without the phone for my livelihood for any longer which could be as long as 5 weeks if history repeats itself.

Not a good advert for Vodafone when their billboards across the land are boasting to everyone that they have the best signal in the Uk. Poor service, poor after sales, poor customer satisfaction.

  • Oh and before you ask I suggested to them that they send me a "SureSignal" as a good will gesture but it will cost me £116 - no good will with Vodafone.

Just read a similar thread in here from another South Wales chap "Trevor" who had a similar problem last September. Does anyone know how he got on in court?

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
