I see 3 are doing a new 250 min 50 text plan for £15, seems a decent deal even if the phones are not top notch, anyone know if this new tariff could get cashback through Quidco, would it be the £82.50 one or would the link it in with the £55 one?
Cheers

  • Saw the latest ad in the Metro paper today I think you can get 500 mins with an add on of 100 texts for £5 which works out as £20pm in total which is good.

They were offering a refurb K800i Cybershot phone (the best of 4 available) it said the phone was free on the texter tariffs but in the small print there was a charge of £40 for the K800i if you chose a talker tariff instead.

I'm looking at these new deals from Three as well.

Looking closely at the website configuration, it appears that you can get the K800i on the £20 talker (500 minutes/100 texts) and the phone will be free. On the £15 talker the K800i costs £70. Thus, for the price of the handset you might as well spend the money on the higher tariff. Or, you can take one of the free phones (there are some pretty good ones) and go with the £15 talker (which is plenty of minutes/texts for me).

I am assuming that the £15 tariff will probably go through quidco at the £55 rate. But can someone who knows quidco better please say more? I just want to make sure that it will count with quidco, either at £55 or higher.

Refer a friend is ongoing as well, so on the £15 talker one is looking at an actual monthly spend of around a tenner.

Note: I couldn't find the refurbished K800i (a K800iR, I imagine) on the website at all...

Well I went for it anyway, the £20 talker plan, 500 mins/100 text, free k800i for £20pm over 18 months.
Looked in my Quidco account and £28 has been tracked, was hoping it would be more than that so beware if you go for one of these new plans.
I couldn't wait as any longer in getting one as my o2 contract/pac is ending in a few days.

If the Quidco money is only £28, I thought I'd check other options. I think I may have found a good deal through the Link:

They have a new K800i on the £15 Talker Tariff (250mins/50txts) for Free, and they include a genuine SE bluetooth headset for free as well. Going through the Link means no refer a friend discount, but quidco says that all contracts through the Link are worth £60. So, it seems that still works out to about the same discount one would get using quidco direct through Three (£28 quidco + £30 refer a friend), but one gets the K800i for free on the cheaper £15/month tariff (through Three the K800i is £69 on the £15/month tariff). And this deal involves no redemption issues (though the Link also has the SE K610 on offer for £7.50/month through redemption).

Am I missing something or should I jump on this deal?

Sorry everyone if this is a naive question(s), but How does the Refer-a-friend work? Do you get a discount if you say someone referred you? or does the person who is already using 3 get a discount?

can you combine things - eg Go via Quidco and get the cashback and then sign up for the £15 talker using refer-a-friend (what details would they ask you for about the refere-a-fiend and at what point? - checkout?). If so, what would be the monthly rental (still £15)

Also, lastly, At what point/how do you let them have your PAC code so that you keep your existing number?

    Thanks everyone

Both. Your friend gets £30 and you get £30 as well - money shows up after about 60 days, I think.

Yes, you can combine them if you go from quidco to three, and then click on refer a friend and follow instructions from there.

I bought from The Link (yes, I went ahead and did it!), so that just gives me the £60 quidco, as I coudn't do refer a friend.

The monthly line rental won't change.

With Three you do this after you've received your new phone. It will have a new number, but you ring Three, give them your PAC code, and they port then number in 5 to 7 days.

Both Quidco and the refer a friend work, In one of the other threads I wrote how do it in a little bit of detail, will show the link later (at work at the moment)

Refer a Friend is £30 for you and your friend, it is applied after the 3rd bill and will be a credit to your account, so if your on £15p/m contract then payment from your account will not be made for two months (thats is if you haven't gone over your minutes of course)

Once you signed up n got the phone give customer services a call n give them the pac code... will take 7-10 days to port your number over
    SLC: £13000+

    Quidco
    : £
    131.24 (paid) + £0 (validated) = £131.24
    Valued Opinions
    : £75 (paid) + £52.30 (received) + £4.50 (pending) = £131.80
    StudentPanel: £25

    Thanks for the advice guys.

Is anyone willing to act as a 3 Referral friend?

Just a follow-up to say that my purchase through The Link has already tracked through Quidco at £60.

So for those that want the new £15 Talker tariff and the K800i, I think this is probably the best deal. It comes out to £11.66 a month with no cashback schemes and includes the free SE bluetooth headset. Going through Three you'd have to pay £69 for the phone or go up to a £20 Tariff.

For those that want a different phone (like the SE K610) or more minutes/texts (as in the £20 Talker) then going directly through Three probably works just as well.

    Even better your deal......
3 have now upped the k800i price on the £20 talker to £49.99, that free deal didn't last long,
but you do get a free 512mb m2 memory card
