EPC certificate

Quick question. Where is the best place to buy one of these certificates?
I have looked at google and lots of places come up in the search.

Thanks in advance.

Ours was done via the estate agent, could this be something you could do? Or are you selling without agent? They all pretty much do the same job in terms of outcome report.

Our local independent EA recommended someone - cost £50. Other EAs wanted atleast £100 - presume they took a cut too!

I'd find someone cheap and get it done yourself.

we have just had one done for a rental property...we asked the LA who they used and was told if we arranged it ourselves it would be cheaper than the standard LA fees...we asked them who they normally used, were given a telephone number and phoned and booked ourselves.

It cost £60 and is valid for 10 years

Some who do EPC's also do floorplans at the same time and it may be cheaper than going through the EA if you are selling.
You can find out about local providers of EPC's here

It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Our EA offered it as part of their commission fee.

Perhaps ask if the EA can throw it in as part of your deal?

Just be warned that, if you do this and leave the agency unsold after say 12 weeks, you might get stung for the cost... which they may claim to have been £212:40 ;)

Great if you do sell, but one to be wary of... ensure there's no charge to you!

The fee would have been 80 quid i - so not too extortionate even if we did end our contract with them. :money:

thanks all for your replies, I will have a look at this register. I could have had it done through the EA for £70 but heard that it could be done cheaper elsewhere.
Sounds like £70 wasn't such a bad price after all.

Now to choose from the many on this list:)
