Internet connection problems

Hi I have recently installed Tiscali Broadband at home, on my Windows 2000 PC, which has been running fine. Suddenly, it still connects, but no pages are loading/emails not downloading. I have tried every clean-up/win doctor/Defrag. I've also been through the checks with Tiscali, and the have even given me the DNS IP addresses, but nothing is working.
Can anyone help? Has anyone had similar problems?
The computer was built for me by a friend a few years ago who I am no longer in touch with, so I'm seriously considering just going to dell and buying a whole new PC!

What firewall are you using, it may be blocking some crucial ports? How are you connecting, ethernet /usb modem, router, wireless etc?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Hi - I am connecting via the USB SpeedTouch 330 modem. I don't have a firewall. I have AVG Anti-virus which I ahve tired to disable. Obviously, I ca'nt connect to the Internet to update the virus software. I've also tried running Ad-aware.
I also get the impression that something is blocking as it does connect.0 -
I haven't used Windows 2000 for quite a few years (even then it was only at work). I think it's relatively unusual for a home pc. Maybe someone with more 2000 experience will be able to post something."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Hi I will try to do that when I get home and let you know - although I will have to write down the information as I can't copy it to my work computer. How much do we depend on our Internet connections?!0

You can send the results to a file then copy it across to the working computer. Instead of ipconfig /all type
ipconfig /all > ipconfig.txt
This will usually save the document titled ipconfig.txt to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator or to the directory you see at the prompt sign in the black screen.0 -

It doesn't say much about your external connection. Is the modem working properly and do you get all the right indications? I would suggest you uninstall / reinstall the USB Modem software and see if this recovers it.0 -
I've tried that! Have just sent you a PM with my interent connectivity details, if you can make anything from that?!0
