Hello
I am going to be moving home but with no telephone line.
Do I really need my sky box connecting to the phone line?!
I can tell the engineer I will be getting one in the future and I presume he will be OK with it? Is that correct?!
Would sky ever find out I am connected without a phone line?!
Look forward to hearing from you all
Rich

We have our phone through Sky but we do not actually have the box connected to our telephone line because it won't reach! I am sure if the engineers had set it up they would have made it fit but we moved from another house so didn't bother with a set up visit.
I think there are some services you can't get without the phone line but I don't think we have ever been quizzed about it in 18 months.0 -
So, if I move without a phone line, it should be OK?
I have just notice they charge £80 for not having the box connected......0 -
No, you can buy out that requirement at sign up for about £20.
Most Sky installers don't give a flying fish if the box is connected or not, unless you are having a Multiroom install (in which case it's an absolute must, because without it the boxes will fail the callbacks).
Subject to that, it's a contractual requirement, but it's not enforced. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Of course you'll be missing out on all the On demand content, and won't be able to order movies from the box office....just sayin. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Once again I suppose I must be a lucky chap.
I have 3 Multirooms and no phonelines attached to any of the boxes.
Never had a callback issue in 12 years of having Sky.
The last engineer did not even bother leaving me the phone cable for my own self install if "ever required".
And yes I can read the terms and conditions.
Like I say they must just trust I don't run a local sky tv business
I do speak to Sky at least once a year when negotiating and also have clearly had a few engineer visits.
Software is updated via the dish as opposed to the phone line so I don't suppose I have suffered any inconvenience or loss of service bar pay per view and advertising junk.
My boxes are all connected to my phoneline wirelessly of course via the wireless connectors, so I get all the benefits.0
