The database does not come in a normal config file like other GPS devices like TOMTOM or GARMIN. The software also only loads the file from the TALEX server and the device does not show up as any sort of storage device so you cant transfer the files.
I really wouldnt trust another camera data base from unnoficial sources anyway after the whole PocketGPS fiasco...0 -
Just a word of warning to any other less-than-tactful husbands... DON'T buy one for a present for your wife when she has just been nicked for going 4 mph over the speed limit! To say the least, I was not impressed and made him take it back!
Just my opinion but it sounds like he was being very thoughtful to me. Well ok he could have given some flowers and a meal too
Probably not fast food though :rotfl: :rotfl: 0 -

The pocket GPS updates are now often made available on torrent sites :T
And miomap updates by contacting a webserver and downloading files then decoding them, but that's been hacked and a list of web addresses and a decoder works to update it

PocketGPS is full of Ghost cameras and missing cameras... Because they are charging for now when it was the members who gave it to them in the first place it is not as well kept as it used to be. As for the MIOMAP updates this is a completely different thing from Talex. You can download the MIOMAP and then move over to the maps folder. As I said earlier. The talex does NOT show as any sort of storage device so therefore you cannot replace, any files. The unit contains everything in flash memory so therefore some sort of flash software would be needed and then someone with a subscription would need to download the file to be flashed as well.0

BTW.. Talex are now doing thier alerts for the TOMTOM series of sat navs.

You can update the unit through the post for £10 ! Doing that once a year at present.... ordered online at Talex.0

I had one of these a year or so ago when they first came out. I sold it on afeter a few months as it was not that accurate and to be honest they have now been superseeded by sat navs which can do the same job and tell you where you are going!0

This unit was tested by AutoExpress and Sunday Times and
voted best at doing the job and , by chance, the cheapest.0 -

Hi, this is a speed camera detector, not a sat nav. hthjswaminathanuk wrote: »Sorry for dumb question but does it have route planner postcode to postcode. if so then does it is capable of taking full postcode or handle just first 4 - 5 chars.0
