We have had one of these for about six months, it was a refurbished unit direct from Talex and cost about £110 with a three year subscription

Very easy to use and set up, warns of all possible cameras etc and nags you if you are over the limit

Would strongly recommend it to anyone who wants something simpler to use than a Sat-Nav system with speed camera warnings

The good old TALEX... Had mine for over a year and its never missed a camera and with frequent updates it even picks up the temp roadwork ones and then gets rid of them the day they are gone... SUPERB...

Just a word of warning to any other less-than-tactful husbands... DON'T buy one for a present for your wife when she has just been nicked for going 4 mph over the speed limit! To say the least, I was not impressed and made him take it back!

You have to buy the upgrade kit (£35 and you get the cable and 1 years subscription). I got a coupon to get it for £20 when I got mine (Tesco). then its £25 a year or £49 for 3 years

Sounds expensive. I think I'll stick with tomtom.

I prefer the talex because its more discreet and can stay in the car without some nutter wanting to smash your window to steal it. Also the talex will only warn you of cameras that are on your side of the road and route (or oncoming dependant on type) and therefore isnt going wild everytime it spots a camera accross the road. or above you when you are on the motorway.

Surely there's got to be a 'free' up-to-date version of the database somewhere on the internet ;) - music is free :)
