Fibre Router Installation Advise

I am upgrading from SKY broadband to SKY fibre shortly. Have been told a new router will be sent out.

I know they say to plug the new router directly into the "main" phone socket but i would like to know if its possible to run a 5m phone line extension cable from the main socket to where i would prefer the router to be placed?

Currently for my standard broadband setup i have an adsl filter in the main socket, with a 5m extension connected to the router. It is done this way so the router sits on my tv stand and i prefer the ps3 to be connected by cable to the router if possible. This setup works fine for the standard broadband.

Please could someone advise if this will still work for the new fibre router or does it really have to be directly wired to the main phone socket?

The router that Sky is sending is not plugged into the phone socket, Sky will instruct Openreach to supply and fit a "fibre" VDSL modem; it's this that is plugged into the phone socket. The Sky router is then plugged into the VDSL modem using regular CAT5/6 cable. So you could in theory have the Sky router up to 100 metres from the VDSL modem.
