Soup was fab thanks. It smelled fabulous when I woke up this morning and was delicious at lunchtime with a grating of parmesan. It was even better when I remembered to add the spinach (I used the frozen stuff) and the remains is in the fridge, to be shoehorned into the freezer when I can face rearranging it!
Thanks for the inspiration!0 -
Nice blog.
And as for digging up half of the allotment for fun -free exercise and future nosh and whoop whoop for firewood that will be seasoned well in 2017. I'm glad you've enjoyed some time a la Greta. Sometimes much needed and enjoyable.
Means you can enjoy your nosh too and be cosy in the future.
And cocalls - I'd have fallen off my bike if I'd found a tenner!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

I am ever so glad that cocalls raised that point. I do enjoy being made to think about things that I do
Oh good glad you weren't offended-I tend to have smaller main portions but then im more of a snacker and that probably costs more pennies. Plus if you're daft enough to do gardening in your leisure time you need more fuel!:p0 -
Good Morning :hello:
Oh greenbee - I am so pleased
Pippi - actually, you are right - I would of fallen off me bike too in a rush to grab the cash :rotfl: Free firewood and free food - life doesn't get much better does it?Plus if you're daft enough to do gardening in your leisure time you need more fuel!:p

So today. Well, I'm determined to bag another NSD, so fingers crossed.
We are definitely suffering 'end of the month-itis' as far as the storecupboards and freezer go, but I think we will have 'Turnip Treat' tonight. I have 2 portions in the freezer. I will accompany it with whatever veg I can find.... in terms of fresh stuff, this is looking suspiciously like..... more turnip :rotfl::rotfl: Oh lawks!
Well, better get up and at 'em. Seize the day!
Thank you so much for popping by, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.
See y'all later.

Karma - what then is 'Lob' scouse? Is it just the longhand version - or are different meats used?Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
Timeout - it's sometimes great to be around people, but sometimes better to be surrounded by nature.
for conversation - but I hope I don't bore.........
for my health and well-being - may I never take it for granted, and may I always try my utmost to maintain mine and DP's health - it is worth more than any amount of money.......
As ever, thank you so much for popping in, reading, commenting and joining in. I really appreciate it.

Gardening can up your calorie intake by a goodly amount
This is why I'm a gardener - they don't call me three teas Pippi for nothing you know!
Gardening is like wood chopping isn't it.
Keeps you warm digging it, growing it, weeding it, and making it. Then you get warm scoffing it.
Woods kinda the same.
Gets you warm collecting it, sorting it, chopping it, basketimfying it and then burning it.
I'm a fan of smaller portions as then I feel I can have 5 teas. My BMI however is only in the cusp of 'normal'. I blame my height, I'm undertall.

I'm afraid the chat is less cheese-centric than you may be used too...... but hopefully we can entertain
- Welcome
We never used the word, but I've heard it since I was an adult - apparently, its the original Scandinavian/North German word - just goes to show how important its always been, that Liverpool was a port.
See now, I have just looked up lobscouse coz I was sure that there was a connection with welsh cawl - plus it's an opportunity to learn about food - what's not to like?I was surprised to learn about the connection with Stoke-on-Trent 'lobbies' and that it is possibly a recipe that 'moved' from Liverpool to Stoke via the canal system - back to food/recipes following/adapting along transport routes again aren't we? And of course the Trent and Mersey canal is nearly as exotic as the Silk Road...........
Also - both Pippi and I can make 'blind scouse' - my version can be meat-free, and Pippi's can be made using meat bones as was done during WWII
Pippi - Swedish turnipsOh, and before I forget, The Food Programme on R4 this Sunday is profiling Alice Waters - a firm advocate of 'local/seasonal/slow food' from San Francisco. She's been at it since the 1970's, so she knows a thing or two. May be an interesting listen, depending on who's interviewing her.
Ah, well, today........ One of those 'no triumph, no tragedy' type days........ Think the weather is a little too grey for my liking today.... ho humNSD no. 15.
Dinner - unintentionally I might add - was an absolute exercise in portion control - yep, it's definitely the end of the month :rotfl: We had a slice of the 'Turnip Treat' (recipe HERE if you missed it first time around) with some peas and sweetcorn out of the freezer. Definitely 4 of our 5 a day in one hit..... :rotfl:Of course, if I was more organised, we would of had a pudding tonight as we would of had a small main, and room for a little treat....*sigh* at least it shows I'm human
Because there was not much prep for dinner, I made the next batch of yoghurt. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out, as this will now be '3rd' generation starter, so we'll see if the 'good bacteria' is still going strong, or whether it is beginning to flag a little like meI really need to work out how much 15g of milk powder costs, as that is the only cost associated with the ingredients of this yoghurt now. I mean for 1l of yoghurt, it's verging on being free
Who would of thought that would be an outcome of starting this thread back in July???
:D
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
For sufficient food - I am not hungry, neither is DP. We will not go to sleep hungry. For that I am very grateful.
That I am not aching all over - must use me muscles more than I thought......:rotfl:
For learning - especially from history - when all's said and done, there ain't that much 'new' under the sun........:)
Thank you so very much for dropping by, reading, participating and making me think today. I continue to appreciate it
See y'all later.

That's a lot of yoghurt for not much milk
Thanks for the tea update, I was beginning to get hungry and I rely on you for my second tea.
And thanks for the heads up for the programme - I'll have a listen.
Merci bouquets.
