Good Morning :hello:supersaver1000 wrote: »Nice. And I so love That corn bread. Excuse my ignorance but how do you cook bread in your PC. Will a laptop or iPad be okay. :rotfl: lol but seriously what is a PC. I have a halogen, will that work. 12 mins sounds gr8.
:rotfl::rotfl: - Nah supersaver - you get a soggy bottom wif an eye-patch and lappies just brown the tops......Sorry PC = Pressure Cooker (HTH). I'm sure you could cook cornbread in a halogen, having no experience of them, I'm not sure how long it would take. However, as a halogen is *more* conventional than a PC, I suspect it would be longer than 12/15 mins. But, I bet it would be quicker than a conventional oven, IYSWIM and therefore cost less to make - making them a good addition to your soup bowl
Good morning. Friday already. How did that happen?
Pizza and wedges tonight for dinner. Plus I've got the great experimentation in Paneer Production to look forward to..... *gulp*It won't be a NSD as I need milk and lemon for the cheese.
Right, best shift a tail-feather and seize hold of the day.
Ta for popping in and reading. You know that I appreciate it. gr8-Lee
See y'all later.

Thank you Greying - doh - pressure cooker of course. Halogen generally is quicker - I will give it a go. Although I can't make soda bread to save my life - the taste when I make it is just weird. DD's is fine, but hopefully my cornbread better as I would love a quick foolproof recipe.

Good Morning :hello:
Well, it's hardly awake o'clock on the weekend and already I've been out and about spending money - *sigh*.
Dinner last night was pizza and wedges. The pizza was '2 cheese' - cheddar and red Leicester, and the cheese was all ooohhy and goooey - YUM! The wedges look burnt, but they just seemed to cook really well on one side, and looked uncooked on the other - however, they were totally cooked through and tasted the same as normal. Not too sure if this doesn't fit the 'most boring picture posting', but here's evidence of *us tea*........
I am starting to have wobbles about continuing posting again. I'm worried first and foremost that I have become boring and sameyAs you can imagine, whilst I have quite a large repertoire of recipes, some duplication occurs - afterall, we do like some of the things that I cook...... :rotfl: There is also some stuff going on in RL that has nothing to do with money saving, but is starting to bring into focus how we do actually want to live our lives, both now and in the future. I'm finding that we are increasingly at 'odds' with society, that seems to be about 'spend, spend, spend' and 'consume, consume, consume' and if you don't do that, then there is something 'wrong' with you and folk seem to be increasingly quick to inform you that you are in the wrong. I find myself aligning much more with the outlook of Mr M0ney MustAche and Jacob at ere these days - although there the similarity ends, as I don't have the 'independent means' that these chaps have amassed - dang! knew I should've paid more attention in physics! :rotfl:
DP and I saved long and hard to have some work done on the house. And whilst I haven't sought to tell anyone about it, it has been mentioned, and seems to have brought negative comments (I should make clear in RL, not on MSE). On the one hand we are *loaded* because we've had the trades in (really????) but on the other, we're *sad* because we have a few days 'holiday' coming up, which we're not jetting away anywhere to get some sun. Apparently, staying at home is *not a holiday*. Um, we chose to forgo a holiday, and put the money towards the renovations..... how is that affecting anyone else? (we didn't even bemoan our lot - it's just what we decided to do....) Seemingly, you put it all on the mortgage and live for today.
So whilst I think MSE is fan-blooming-tastic, most especially the people I think. I'm feeling less and less comfortable here. Whilst it is great that there is advice on how to get satellite TV cheaply, using a code or a voucher, I'm not interested in getting satellite TV in the first place (yup, I know, I'm odd, and I'm not having a dig at folk with satellite TV - I just know it's not for me, I'm not criticising the choice of others). I read a post that Maria wrote over on her blog (Maria was Firewalker when she was on MSE) about her grandma and pensions. Whilst the piece was very interesting, and Maria raises excellent points about how life has changed, I can't help thinking that it is a pity that more people couldn't choose to live their senior years as Maria's grandmother did. I would choose that lifestyle over frenetically fretting over securing 1/4% more interest on my NISa - despite the fact that there is probably an app that'd help me with that......
I'm feeling at a little bit of a crossroads, with an awful lot of options that seem to be in someone else's control rather than my own.
We have got a few days off over the next week. So if my posting becomes sporadic, it ain't because I is having a *flounce* it'll be because i'm away out and about enjoying meself. Picnicing, walking, cycling, breathing fresh air and enjoying the silence............. Or, I'll be on here, bemoaning the fact that the tail-end of hurricane windy-cindy has kept me indoors and I've had to do painting (of walls) instead:rotfl:
Tonight's dinner is curry - afterall, Judes is still in it to win it, and Saturday is Strictly Curry Murray
Right, I've bored y'all enough. I'm away to do summat else
Thanks for popping in, reading and joining in. I do appreciate it.
See y'all later.

Morning Greying (albeit only just)
I read your post and felt compelled to respond. :money: has built a virtual community. Some forums are 'scary', some are educational, others supportive.
Our lives used to be filled with people who had opinions - commenting on what we did, where we went, size of house, the list goes on. I've kept a diary for 3 years almost and lurked for a year or so before. During the 4 years our relationships in RL have changed dramatically. I don't give a fig whether people think we don't spend our £ in the way people believe we should or even check up on how much we have spent on things. I don't give a hoot about people who wonder why I'm driving a car with over 130k mileage on the clock, or why we shop be L!dl more than anywhere else.
Sweetheart you have brought something to :money: which is significant and don't forget that. You focus on using your money in the most powerful way for you. In turn you've taught other people a huge amount.
Why don't you start your own blog. You have the writing skills, the financial acumen, the generosity of spirit and are a dab hand in the kitchen.
I'm pretty sure you could make yours financially viable, which in turn may bring you other opportunities.
Take it easy and to anyone who feels the need to comment on how you live your lives, frankly they can booger off

I can relate to a lot of you say about not feeling comfortable on MSE. A lot of the forum I'm never been on because it's simply not relevant to my life - no satellite TV here either.
Like the DFW board but as I'm now debt free it feels a bit awkward posting sometimes.
Love the OS board but I just don't live like a lot of the people on there. I'm sure I'd get thrown off if I admitted to going in Starb*cks sometimes and buying non YS food
I want to be more involved but don't feel there's anywhere I really fit. Maybe, as Tilly suggests for you I should start a blog. There seem to be millions already but I'm sure there's room for more
Your posts are absolutely not boring and samey and I would miss you if you weren't here but don't post for us. Post because you want to.
Agree with what Tilly says - you have taught me a lot and I'm very grateful.
That was all very serious
And now back to the smilies....0 -
Hi there Greying,
I understand what you are saying. I do live in a house with satellite TV etc... and sometimes I wish so much that I didn't. My kids are in the process of writing their Christmas lists and I'm horrified at home 'consumeristic' they are. I am so keen to simplify our lives but each time I do a little bit I get thwarted by the rest of them.:(
You are an inspiration to me. I'm cooking so much more from scratch than I did previously. I even made my own soap powder lasts week!
I will really miss your postings if you choose not to continue but I will understand and wish you well. You need to know your postings are never, ever, boring!
