More whooshing here.....chocolate and crisps...hmmm, I can "kind of" see how that might work....but still not sure I could face trying it. Chocolate and cheese also kind of works, but I don't think I'd bother trying that again, either! :rotfl:
Tinned potatoes.....Ummm, nothing against them for anyone else, but absolutely can't bear them - a very poor imitation of the real thing IMO. Honestly, I'd sooner go without.

There seems to have been an influx into the shops of late of all things 'salted caramel'. I see it everywhere... Salted caramel chocolate, salted caramel ice cream, cheesecake, biscuits, popcorn etc...
What is it with this modern innovation? I thought we were all supposed to be eating less salt, not more!0 -
Hey up me dears
Excellent chat on here - I've not seen any chocolate/tattie type inventions.
I can't say I'd like the thought of them.
Waste of a good tattie.
Now, I've never been a fan of tinned veggies but I have to say my ex flatmate use to make a killer potato curry with them and it worked quite well

Good Evening :hello:
Wow! Loads of visitors. Thank you so much for stopping by, how loverly
Munchin - It would have to depend on the quality of the choc for me. I prefer dark choc anyway, but I still think it is a waste of crisps and choc
Karmacat - how lovely to see you. I've not been hiding, honest, but thought that I was hijacking Pippi's thread too often, and then the keys got lost, the emergency fund ran out...........and here I amReading my wiffle is probably above and beyond the call of duty KC, but some lovely folks have come onto the thread and made some wonderful - and hilarious - contributions along the way
. If you want the synopsis of why I'm here, I'd advocate reading post #1 and post #271, pg 14. Then come back here and pitch in
Great to 'see' you.
Essex Hebridean - I hear your point of view re the potatoes, but I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the potato salad...... Funnily enough, in RL, I seem to encounter more fans of tinned veg than folk who eat fresh. The most notable example was donkeys years ago, when I first had an allotment (in days before it became a fashion accessory to have one), and was super keen to share out the spoils of my growing on anyone and everyone. I tried to give a bag of freshly dug new potatoes to my neighbour. Who pointedly refused, sighting the fact that they ate tinned potatoes. They liked tinned potatoes. They were all but indignant that I had tried to foist my 'mud covered', 'organick', 'fresh' things on them :rotfl:
I'm enjoying trying out new things though. I'll keep some vAlue/smartpr1ce potato tins in the store cupboard I think.
Anyway, never mind my experimenting - what are 'Norfolk Pinks', are they maincrop or a salad? Love the idea that you are getting them from the area yourself.
Beanie - I have tried choc covered pretzels - I would say I prefer those to choc covered crisps, but still not a huge fan.....
HopeJacob - I agree, 'sea-salted' 85% cacoa, fairlytraded, artisanally hand-crafted ... blah, blah, blah - just an ad agency's dream. I suspect it'll pass just now, along with all the other fads.
Pippi - 'waste of a good tattie' - indeed!! Glad to have you back. mmm, have to agree, some tinned veg is ok in some recipes...... but I'm no fan of tinned carrots or mushrooms, never got on with them at all. But perhaps in the right dish? Curry is probably the best solution all round
Well, today has whizzed, but has gone well.
I managed to make it a NSD. Didn't find any 'roadkill'But hey!
Dinner was Fasolada soup, which is Greek in origin. I followed a recipe from Ms R Elliot's bean book, but THIS is very similar. I blitzed mine with the hand blender - as Rose advocates, (not traditional to do it though), as I do think it blends the flavours nicely, plus the remainder is going in DP's flask for snap tomorrow, and is obviously easier to drink/pourWe had wholewheat soda farls with the soup. I'm not sure if a photo is too boring..... but I hope it will size ok,
Anyway, that is probably all from me. Edit: forgot to add, that the parsley in the soup is homegrown - do you remember all those weeks ago, I was convinced the parsley seed wouldn't germinate - and now we're eating it

Oh really?? keen cooks eh? :rotfl::rotfl:I've never been remembered in the library GP....
Joining in the chocolate thread, I love chilli chocolate particularly when accompanied by a glass of red wineNot sure about chocolate crisps though. Pret do salted chocolate and it is lovely, but probably an acquired taste. It took me a lot of acquiring until I liked it....
