  • She's right about pasta and beans combo's being done in Italy, but I don't know how they do it better - but I've a lot to learn, clearly :o

    :wave:

    My Italian uncle does a very good pasta and haricot bean dish Greying - we're visiting him next month so I'll get his recipe for you.

    If I was a chesnut logger in the Italian mountains, this type of meal would be brill, but I'm not.

    Hello GP & Chums.

    Upside, loving the idea of germs only wanting me because I am likeable :rotfl: - does this mean I am not edible, since the mozzies always avoid me? :huh:

    Glad you are on the final push of the house sorting Greying. One day soon it will all be done and you can start the next chapter!

    Jellytot came in, saw your pasta dinner from last night and shouted 'PASTAAAAAAAAA' at me. :rotfl: she liked it, even if you didn't. But then the height of haute cuisine for her is pasta spirals, hotdog sausages chopped up, peas, sweetcorn and ketchup :eek: finicky two year olds... lol

    Hope Hopefuljoy and anyone else is feeling much better now. I am recovering after a day spent doing number crunching in bed. Still avoided the October meal plan thus far. What happens when you don't meal plan? You spend £78 of your £130 budget for the month before you even hit October :mad:

    Beanie hope everything is ok with you flower. You seem spread very thin. Take care of yourself!

    Off for my first meal of October, the final marrow of the season, stuffed and cheesed, with lots of white rice. :D it is far too hot, but I shook the cayenne too hard. Creme fraiche as a side!

    Good evening everyone and thank you for all the well wishing!:T I have emerged rotten and horrid from my bedroom for the first.time today and am going back to work tomorrow! Whatever it is seems to be sweeping the nation judging by all your posts. I hope you are all getting better.:)

    The only thing I managed to do was to arrange a very modest (50) overpayment on my mortgage each month.:D I am interest only and at the end of the deal in November 2016 will go back to repayment. Meanwhile I will lob the fifty at it each month and am saving 250 into the six per cent regular savings each month so I can pay off a modest lump at the end of the term.:) I am angry with myself for.getting into debt before as I could have paid off much more and not have the worry I have now about how to pay off 94500 in twelve years.:eek: Mind you I have set that as my goal and will also sweep any leftover money each month into the mortgage to pay it off by stealth! Better to do something rather than leave it to fester! :)

    There, that's that out in the open and I do feel better for sharing with you. I have learned a lot this year about how to be content rather than waste money I haven't actually got. :rotfl:I'm saving now whereas with my old job I was on 10k more and.thought I couldn't save.:cool: Looking back I was so stressed and.miserable I lost the plot on what life is really for. Relationships and simple pleasures.:T Thank you Greying and everyone on this thread for helping me rediscover happiness. I started reading in Feb when I was off sick with a.major depressive episode and you made such a difference!!!:A

    Have lovely evenings! Xxxx

    You are right, Upsidedown Bear this thread is stuffed to the gills with likeable people - and I think your 'group hug' smiley is the best - can we not get :money: and his people to put it at all our disposal? And I'm sorry that I am not the rough-tee-tough-tee lumber Jaqui -type, you clearly thought that I was :D But if I was, do you think I'd admit it on here? You know I'd be inundated with 'discount' requests from logburner owning MSE'rs...... :rotfl:

    You are doing brilliantly Hopefuljoy and I hope that life continues to go from strength to strength for you, and that you feel better soon. You are so good popping in to check on how we are, when we should be popping round with the soup, luc0zade and the paracetamol for you! :D

    Beanie - thank you for your support, although am I allowed to admit, I had a laugh out loud moment, reading your comment - I feel like I should have been doing something really important, like giving birth ....... :rotfl: Instead I'm just covered in plasterdust and relieved to finally have got the trades out of our home........... :D Did I really push the last one out the door? :whistle:.. [JOKE! :D]

    Oh dearest lilt, how I wish this was the final push, unfortunately it is only one piece of the jigsaw puzzle, we still have a major job to contemplate :( However, I didn't think at one point this year we would have this done, and be at the 'clearing up' and putting the house back together again stage. So I've LOADS to be grateful for :D Ta for popping in :D I know that you want to know if I've done the meal plan for October.... well I have - finally! :D

    teapot2 - darn! Knew I should have taken out shares in that there Romanesco cauli farm! Hee hee! I bet you got a lovely big one for your £1 too :D Well done :D

    Karma - it has a bit, but it's as much about the stress around delays and things not going according to plan, I think we were concerned it was all going to unravel again, like last time. But to be fair, it didn't and we've come through the other side. And I genuinely didn't think that we would have even got to this stage earlier on this year. So, we'll miss our November target, but we've actually achieved a lot - I keep telling myself this and it's finally sinking in. And when DP was being a grump on the weekend, and said, 'we've achieved nothing this year', I was calmly able to tell him that we had, and list all of the things that we have done. So I'm glad that I had my wobble on here a couple of weeks ago - it gave me perspective :D Mind, we've not had the bill for this latest round of work yet :eek: Thanks for popping in and giving your support - always appreciated :D

    So, October didn't wait for me :o and got started all by itself! I didn't snag a NSD yesterday, but I did manage to buy and drop off our FB donation, so I'm pleased about that. Saw the lovely receptionist too - they make donating a pleasure. Spent just over a £5 this time - you get so little for your money! :( Still, I get what is on their list, so I know that it'll be useful :)

    Dinner last night was from stores (thankfully). We had Loobia Polo, which is green bean pilau, seasoned with middle eastern spices. Very good and very easy to make. Just what was required.

    Dinner this evening was on with the theme of 'Soupsand.......' that I'm going to do on Thursdays throughout October. So tonight, we had Harira Soup & flatbreads. Pic here;

    018_zpsd500f7c2.jpg

    Obviously I make my version veggie, but if you would like a recipe that is very similar (but it does contain meat) then THIS version is very close. My version doesn't contain the meat, vermicelli or the flour, but I did put half a veg stock cube in and I put the lemon juice (and sometimes zest) in at the end of the cooking time. The flatbreads were the usual piadina recipe with nigella seeds, sesame seeds and parsley added. I did half mixture and it made 4 flatbreads. Very easy, filling and relatively inexpensive :D

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    for your support and good wishes :D

    that some normality is returning to Greying towers - just need to get the table and chairs back in situ, and we'll be most of the way there :D

    That DP's grump lifted :D - I think he feels back in control :)

    Thank you so very much for popping in, reading and commenting. Know that it is greatly appreciated at anytime, but especially at the moment, as there seems to have been a lot going on - for me and You :D

    I shall be around tomorrow, so I'll take the opportunity to have a bit of a review of September and a look forward to the rest of October :D

    See y'all later.
