With regard to the handwriting, our class had a teacher (Harrington junior school, 3a, Miss Robinson, to be exact) who taught us copperplate 'joined up' writing and it stuck with me.
A senior moment here as for the life of me l cant remember the word for joined up writing!

It's cursive MrsI. The only reason I know is that DD's school has insisted they learn cursive writing from the start. No learning block letters then progressing to cursive. I personally think it's ridiculous and have told them so. They should be allowed to develop their own handwriting not all forced to write and form letters the same way. They can learn cursive as they get older, not when they can barely hold a pencil. Oops sorry for the rant :o

How interesting re veggy/meat eating. I was a veggie for about 10 years while a teenager and I have since found that my stomach cannot tolerate a lot of meat. I eat very little meat and really dislike preparing raw meat so as a family we don't eat a lot of meat. DH would probably enjoy a bit more meat but the kids are happy with what they get. Interesting to see that veggie is better for the planet though.

That is so true for me too, supersaver. I checked our yearly budget last night to make sure we are still on track. It is showing a small surplus !:D I have been nudged into researching cheaper alternatives for everything and our food budget is working too (because I'm more mindful of waste and make HM versions of things now). This thread is superb!

GP so glad you are feeling brighter and fug-less. I have been keeping up with reading the thread but have been away for a few days with no reliable broadband  so could only watch from the sidelines. However, I am now back :D

Today has been spent looking after the two tiddlers so that DD could go into the office. For some reason I just couldn't get to sleep last night, finally dropping off around 2am and waking to the alarm at 6.30am....for heaven's sake.....I am now whacked :o I always take lunch for the three of us (I notice a lot of empty space in DD's fridge which is most unusual :() but the usually fussy tiddlers have eaten everything with relish commenting on how lovely lunch with Nanna is  Perhaps being MSE will pay dividends for them too. They didn't once ask for sweets :T

Hope all is well dear GP, I have thoroughly enjoyed the debate on carbon footprints of meat/veggie eaters so thanks once again. Oh, and YAY to being chatted up in the supermercado! :rotfl::rotfl:

Maybe I should just get myself up and out of bed & get the kettle on? Daylight is upon us. Right I may regret this by 2pm but I'm getting up. Catch you all later.........

Hurrah an enlightened school! We will have to agree to disagree on this one Starnac :) I personally cant abide teaching children to stop their 'joined up' scribbles to learn how to form letters individually and then join it all up again! And dont get me started on 'flicks'!! It makes sense to form letters in a certain way as it leads to a good legible style and its is what I aim for but letter formation is often fixed quite early and I dont believe in changing it if a child handwriting is developing without it being laboured - and I get into sooooooo much trouble for that;) However my bug bear pen/pencil grip........now that I will change:D

Good morning! I sympathise with the trying to sleepers, for some reason my sleep pattern has gone to pot recently. Thankfully last night was better. I'm going to go cold turkey on the daytime snoozes as well! That should help. I do like a snooze though! Ah well.

Reading your posts last night made me realise what an effect Greying you have had on me as well. I no longer have a microwave and don't buy packaged meals anymore, my food bill has dropped and I force myself to look at my cupboards and make something now. That is such a massive change for me and DD. Thank you Greying and all on this thread for making such a difference to my life.

Going to read for an hour then get up and go to LL (to keep the thirty three pounds in weight I shed totally off!!) then visit parents and finally tackle my overgrown garden. I'm on hard clay and it's a task I dread. Shrubs for me all the way!!

    Have lovely days chums!!
With family, friends and pets (or any combination of them) life will be fine!

Hi Beanie and hopeful, I would love sleeper time too. Went off about 3.00 last night, woke up several times and still tired when got up 7.30 :(

Just all messed up, then lethargic in day and no energy.

Then repeats - Ground hog day!

    Help !
