And, yes, my life has changed very much for the better.)
:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:DJust catching up on this thread
 Greying don't go. Apart from the fact that I love your posts, they are inspiring and helpful. I know I don't post very often but I pop over here quite often looking for something frugal but healthy for tea. You inspire me when I am feeling poor and sorry for myself. Your constant positivity drags me out of my self pity and gives me the kick up the back side I need whether you realise or not.
For any *proper* DFW's (whatever that may be) who may be facing difficulty and looking for meal ideas or just a bit of sunshine, then they won't look over in the MFW board. They will look right here. And they will find this lovely diary and the lovely you.
Please don't go x
Do you know starnac - I had never thought of my diary like that, never in a million years. THANK YOU. And due to 'popular demand'looks like ya stuck wif me

:j:jHooray! :j:j (sighs with relief)
I was so scared this morning of what Busymumofthreeplusdog was planning that I completely forgot to say:Happy 1st August!
July is over at last and we have funds! To celebrate we splashed out on a packet of bacon and DH cooked us a fry up for brunch using 2 eggs left over from the quiche making, some close to date mushrooms, a small tin of baked beans donated yesterday by dear FiL and 2 stale slices of bread toasted. Boy did it taste good and boy did OH make a mess in the kitchen :eek: Of course, I was left to wash up
It's also my Elegant Sister's 75th birthday today and she is on a cruise. She has taken my handmade birthday card with her to open todayWe stopped sending each other gifts years ago as the postage is so expensive but I always pop a £1 scratchcard inside the cards. Their anniversary was 2 weeks ago and they won £10 :T I hope her birthday one is a winner too. I don't envy her being on a cruise at all as it would be my worst nightmare but I wonder if other scratchcards in the past produced a little more than she lets on :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Oooh, it's raining at last! it's lovely and cool at the mo.

Lil'sweetie
I love that your splash out was a packet of bacon.
And thanks for calling me elegant. Oh darn this dyslexia.
And thanks for the kind words over on me patch too.
Mucho appreicated.

The berries are a turning up this neck of the woods - there's hedgerows to a forage soon (take a notable, informed type with you when you forage.) and jelly to be made.
wishus we sometimes get funny looks when we say we can't afford anything or I freeze the last of the milk or something.
I just tell folks we're on a budget (and you get the rightly so nodding) and that 'stuff' is precious - so shouldn't be wasted.
They all look at me funny normally anyway so what do I care. I hurt no one and that wee bit frozen milk will likely make a batch of scones they'll happily scoff.
My heart goes out to those with no food and continual harassment by debt folks, those kind of struggles are horrendous.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

little_sweetie - you and DH enjoyed your brunch though - that is the important bit. If you'd of had it at a posh hotel, would the enjoyment quotient of expanded? is why it is so important to savour the small things - well, I think so anyway, as I'm never convinced that 'bigger' is necessarily 'better' if you see what I mean.
I like that your sister is taking her card with her to open on her special day. I always try to make sure that cards for special occasions/chrimbo etc get to the recipient in time, only to find out they have been pounced on and opened on receiptespecially those that may have a present lurking
What is wrong with opening the card on the day, and enjoying the gift on the day. And yes, wouldn't it be smashing if the card won a packet?

I am 30 *something* and still wouldn't dare open a card never mind a present before my birthday in case my mum told me off! :rotfl: seriously though if you open everything beforehand where's the excitement on the day? I've upset people before now when they have given birthday cards/presents to the kids before their birthdays and have told them they can open them. I've politely said "thank you but they will be opened on the day". Unless of course it is someone who has come a long way (such as my inlaws).Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

I think the Forum is for anyone who wants to manage their money better - whatever their financial situation.
Diaries help us do this and remember - it's your diary, to help you.
I'm not in debt and not particularly hard core MS either. You know my motto - loaves and lilies! However, my diary helps me to spend my money in a considered way, keep a balance in my life and achieve the things I want to achieve. And isn't that why we're all here?

Hiya Greying
Gald you are not budging from here - but I do understand why you may have felt oddly placed. I toyed with the idea of a diary before and got it 'wrong' so closed it. It wasn't on the DFW or MFW board but then I'm not in debt or trying to reduce my Mortgage yet. I wanted a diary for other reasons. Anyway, just saying I can understand why you were thinking that but I think the DFW and MFW boards are really friendly places where lots of people are excepted regardless of their circumstances.
So... glad you're staying put!April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
