SUPERDAVE - defender of pennies, protector of pounds(^^voiced in cinematic trailer tones.......
)
Just flying in, was marched out for a walk last night straight after work, then just had enough energy to eat and veg. In front of the box.
GP your posts are so motivating. Makes me feel that I am not just drudging along on no money, but that I'm truly making the most of the little I have to have a more enjoyable life. Yes I was better off a few weeks ago, but I was so relaxed yesterday evening and that just can't be bought - well I guess I could have spent the £500 each month on health farm , cleaner, takeaways etc., but then what's the point as I'd be no better off AND stressed.
ps. I love my SuperDave logo. Thank you

Good Morning :hello:
Gosh. Thank you for contributing that post Cheery.
Whilst I didn't expect to find that *C* had died, I was a little prepared, as the g00gle result came up with the 'obituaries' page afterall. And in the sentence or two that accompanies the search, there was sufficient detail to identify that this was the *C* that I knew, so I knew what I was going to read in effect - I had a couple of seconds mental preparation. It would have been more of a shock to me to find that they had a *page* - go to it and find out.........
I agree, they will still be fully minded about *C*, but they are all very different people to *C*. I will have to think carefully about how I write this note. But I would like to write it; support, recognition, respect and closure and all that......
Thank you Cheery. Thank you.
supersaver - I love how everyone *joins in* on the threadYou are right - contentment cannot be bought, and as it is stress that harms humans the most...... And please keep swooshing your cape - it creates a very welcome breeze
Whisper it ....... 31st July Folks
Dinner this evening will be some sort of salad bowl - but without a green lettuce leaf anywhere near the proceedings, as we ain't gort none
I am minded to try to take the foodbank donation (bought at the start of July) today. I'm wondering about opening hours of the 'drop off point' (not the FB itself) being affected by summer hols of staff etc. I'll be over that side of town today, so it may well be worth lugging the stuff about.
Right, best get up and at 'em.
Thank you so very much for popping by, reading and commenting. Very much appreciated. Very much.
See y'all later.

Morning all. I have been reading posts for days but haven't had time to reply.
Wishing us all a good month. Mine is going to be hectic and expensive but I am going to be as careful as possible. I like GP's signature saying "I have enough". I really should keep that in mind sometimes.Keep reading books!

I know what you mean wishus. I read a thread here yesterday and was humbled by the adversity some people have to deal with but are still focused on a good outcome. It's too easy to lose sight of what we have. This diary helps remind us so thank you GreyingMortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. You are so right, wishus, and in need of direction, I have so much to give thanks for, and, yet, sometimes I am still not satisfied. This thread reminds me to be well content, and grateful.
Now on a frivolous note, yesterdays 'dress fitting' was so hilarious we were sore, and my ribs still ache from laughing. . . but the outcome was that, although she will be unable to laugh, cry, cough, sneeze, eat or even sit down quickly, at least she can wear the outfit.0 -
Yesterday I "liberated" a pork, leek and mushroom casserole from mum's freezer because by the time we drove from her house to pick up a folding wheelchair for her then back to mine where she's staying for "a while" I knew I'd be collapsing with hunger. It meant that we had a scrumptious dinner instead of wasting money on either a supermarket ready meal or a takeaway, both of which would have taken longer to source anyway.What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

Good Evening :hello:
wishus - JSB & Lorraine Hunt Liebersen make it pretty *mindful* too.........
INOD- inadvertently, and totally unintentionally, you have highlighted something that is concerning me greatly. There are some diaries on DFW that have folk facing tremendous challenges in their lives, because of debt. As I stated in my first post on this diary, we were not in debt, and we are not in debt now. This has been very much a diary about *how the hickey do we stay out of debt and remember that life is for living along the way* - whilst trying to deal with a couple of 'curve ball' situations life threw at us. I have, very often, felt uncomfortable on this board - even though the welcome that I am routinely extended is PRICELESS - it is ME that feels I am an impostor - wittering on about wasting 25p on an avocado that I've had to compost.
I was going to bring up this subject at the end of last month, but the 'puter went kapootski and I missed the end of June/start of July posting. I am seriously thinking of bringing this diary to a conclusion. It works for me. I love writing it. I love the contributions from fellow MSE'rs. But I never want to seem like I am *playing at poverty* when others are in dire straits. That said, on this thread (as in real life) there are households that have more financial resources than us, and some that have less. So, in that respect, I am dealing with budgetary constraints like any other MSE'r, like any other DFW or MFW for that matter.
I'm in a bit of a quandary, I'll admit.
mrsinvisible - your day sounds a hootBut please tell me you'll carry smelling salts in your handbag - just in case the auld w'ale bone dun work too well....
satchmo - your mum has her mobility and you got fed - win/win
rtandon - you've had a rough few weeks - fingers crossed that August has better in store for you and Mr rtandonta for popping by
Well, today turned out OK. It was fine at lunchtime so I whizzed the FB donation over, and luckily the reception area was open. So that is August's donation made
I spent nowt, so can claim a NSD :j
I found 5p *roadkill* about 10 yards from my door :j
And the cupboards yielded 'genug' for summat for dinner :j
Picture of our 'Salad bowl' here;
I'm afraid I'm going to be recipe link-lite tonight - no one has made this lot! :rotfl: However, from the top (12 o'clock) we have beetroot a la gourmet - which is from Arthur Potts Dawson's book, Eat More Veg. Basically it is diced beetroot in 'House Dressing'. It's not something that I would bother with again......... Moving clockwise we have sweetcorn salad, based closely on THIS recipe. But I used lemon juice rather than lime and put in a sprinkle of smoked paprika and used parsley rather than coriander. Next is butter bean and sweet chilli salad. A Rose Elliot recipe, I got it from her 'best of RE' cookbook. Next is minted cucumber salad - we were having this anyway, but I see that Tilly made it last night - and frankly, if I'm going to emulate, then Till's is a good role-modelLastly we have Patates Salatasi, from Arto del Hartounian's Vegetarian Middle Eastern Food - as I said last time I made it, I can't find a version that is written in English. The tomatoes, red and yellow are HG. And to top things off, a thoroughly British boiled egg!
So, we've made it through July. The cupboards are depleted, there is no money left in the kitty, but we haven't starved and we've given our donation to the FB (today's was for 'August' IYSWIM).
DP made me laugh heartily over dinner. I had previously sorted out the 'print' photos that we have - basically, if they weren't already in an album, they got culled - we never looked at them.... Anyway, some weren't mine to ditch, so I put them to the side for DP to mull over. Anyway, DP started to try to say that I should sort through them...... then thought better of it...But then decided that we needed to make a collage on the wall of our *adventurising* pictures - which, according to DP would start out with a selection of Bee pictures in the middle.... followed by a ring of flowers......followed by pictures of our 'snap'....... :rotfl: Is 'e 'inting wot I takes pictures of a lot of Bee's or summat???? :rotfl::rotfl:
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
That July has come to a conclusion and it is payday
That lovely contributors to this thread give me plenty to think about - and I THANK YOU for that
That indeed, this month, I had enough - just...... :whistle:
Thank you so very much for popping in, reading and commenting. I do, greatly appreciate it.

GP I am a relative newbie to MSE (September 2011) so not aware of the qualifications needed to have a diary in DFD's, BUT from where I sit you do a very good job of staying out of debt and contribute hugely in all manner of frugal hints, tips and recipes, which I know have helped others who need to stretch the pennies to either get or stay out of debt.
You also write beautifully and give so much support to those that are experiencing difficulties in their lives, not to mention your GSOH;)
Please do not leave us, (I am just beginning to get the taste for beans and lentils:rotfl:)
