Good Morning :hello:
Thanks kackleful - lovely to *see* you too
Well, 2 minutes ago my head was hitting the pillow, and then it was time to get up again - how does that happen?? :rotfl:So much for 8hrs sleep
Today should be a pretty straightforward day, and I'm hopeful for minimal queues in the PO at lunch, as I've the CU accounts to top up.
Dinner this evening will probably be soup (with sufficient liquid this time :rotfl:) although technically we have a choice, as we've one dish in hand. We'll see how the day pans out.
Right, I've to finish packing snap bags, so away I go
Have a good day, one and all
Ta for popping by, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it - always
See y'all in a bit.

And yes, I wholeheartedly agree that it was kind of the aerial chap to clear the guttering - how refreshing to meet the attitude, 'well, I was here, saw it needed doing, so I did it.'
Well, apparently I still have about 100 channels or more to choose from, although I think there only seems to be a few programmes which get repeated and recycled through the +1/+24 channels. I actually noted what I was watching in the previous few weeks and it isn't very much so the decision was easy.
That soup looks absolutely delish. and just the thing after a day in the garden. I will be living out of the cupboards/freezer again this month as it already looks to be an expensive one. That is a drawback of not working - I used to be able to increase my pay with some overtime but the pensions have increased under index-linking so a tiny bit more coming in. I must contact the tax office to make sure my tax-code is updated as my income will be "just" under the new personal allowance for 2014-15. Oo-er, sounds scary when I think about it.0 -
Hmmm the black-eyed pea and coconut soup looks delish. Think I'll be giving that one a go. I have ordered the Jack book from the library, but there is a waiting list for it. Hope that means they'll order some more copies.It is the job that is never started that takes the longest to finish. Tolkien.Save 12k in 2025 No 18 365 1p challenge 2025 No 20

See now moneyistootighttomention - look how many people have benefitted from your kind post:D
sonas_baby - our library had actually got *on the ball* and ordered a number of copies of Jack's book - and there was still a waiting list. Interesting that 'Save' with jaymee is consistently stuck on the shelf...... both copies........Gave my first foodbank donation last week thanks to your inspiration.,

Ach heck Beanie - for sure I'm no inspiration - it is because YOU are a kind and generous soul! :T Well done you for pitching in
Verbatim - ta for popping inSparking on all cylinders..... mmm, I like it
dreaming - I was delighted when I found the 'button' on the TV remote that allowed me to delete all the p*rn, *chat*, shopping, dating, gambling, competition and associated *carp* channels off our freeview system. You can just scroll through the channels, even with minors in the room, without any worries, and also, if, like us, you're rushing to tape something at the last moment, you only have to scroll through a few channels in order to find the one you need to tape. Mind you, I could do with sorting through again, as new channels are added all the time.
Well, it was a 'no triumph, no tragedy' type Thursday today. I did however, achieve a NSD :j and I found 2p *roadkill* :j and I had forgotten to inform you that I found 1p *roadkill* yesterday too :j:j Independently wealthy status, here I come........... :rotfl::rotfl:
Oh, and whilst I am on a roll, there was absolutely no queue in the PO either! Bad for their business model, but brill for me!And I have just, JUST - purely by luck - managed to achieve my target to get a £500 emergency fund established in my CU account by the 4th April. As my siggie indicates, I have £506 tucked away :j OK, that's not loads - more string vest than safety net
:rotfl: But I keep on thinking back to how I felt in July of last year and how *far* we seem to have come in just 10 months
Dinner this evening was soup. It was butter bean and thyme soup from Lindsay Bareham's book 'Hungry' which she wrote for her son as he headed off to university. It is a tasty soup - much more than you'd think given the sum of its partsI still have no lemon, so if you are wondering what the *sprinkles* are on top, it is our old friend sumac. I used dried thyme, so it doesn't show up as well as fresh might have. Pic;
The butter beans were from H*me Bargins, 3 tins for £1. The tattie was one from the 7.5kg bag I got from farmF00ds and everything else was from the storecupboard. If you would like to have a go at making this easy but delicious soup, the recipe is HERE - Although as you will see, it is credited as being from another of Lindsey's books. The recipe is exactly the same, however, in the version I have, you add 1/2 tsp of curry powder when you are frying the onion/garlic and potatoes. And as an aside, I would pop the potato in with the stock (cut the potato up thinly) and cook that for a couple of minutes, before I added the butter beans. If you're using tinned beans, they only need to be warmed through, not cooked to within a inch of their lives
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
that Greying Towers once again has access to an emergency fund - hope we don't need to use it
for food bank donators - you rock! :T:T:T:D:D
for *community* - credit unions, food banks, MSE...........:D:D
Thank you for popping in, reading and commenting. I really, really appreciate you taking the time
See y'all later.

good morning, all. Greying, your soup looks lush, I am so tempted, but have only 1 tin of butterbeans, but I have 2-3 other types so may make it with 'mixed bean' .
Lovely neighbour has started to re-fence our boundary, and is going to fence panel the part of mine which he doesn't share, too xxxxx.
Got word that my greenhouse is ready to deliver, so I best get the base down this weekend, and contact my 'tame' electrician to be ready to put power into it. OOOO I am sooooo excited! this is going to be my major purchase this year, and is likely to be my 'holiday home' Off to get ready for the day. xx0
