  • Good Morning :hello:

Oooh, I've just been outside and the birdys are singing and tweeting their hearts out - lovely sound :D

I'm pretty sure that I must have forgotten to add Monday's nsd to my total, as I'm only on course (if I spend nothing between now and Friday) to have 18 nsd's - whereas I calculated it would be 19 with Tuesday's 'spend day'. Ah well, my mistake, I'll leave it as it is. But I will be aiming for a NSD today - the 36p change from the narnars isn't exactly burning a hole in my pocket :rotfl:

Dinner is now going to be a surprise as I looked last night, and if I attempt the dish I was going to make, I'd have to leave too many ingredients out as I've not got them. A compromise too far. So it'll be pot luck. The good news for dreaming is that is still will be aubergine free, as I have none. There is an outside chance it may contain mushrooms, as I have a few in the freezer, but I have to say, I'm missing another key ingredient to make a mushroom dish, so they'll probably stay in the freezer.

The frozen milk keeps re-freezing itself. What a pain :( I'll definitely do the satchmo tip next time.

Great to see kissjen has posted. In my thoughts, lovely lady; as ever.

Right, best up and at 'em.

Thank you so very much for popping by, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.

    See y'all later.

  • Hi GP, I had the yogurt plain over fruit. Have that for breakfast nearly every day, so I can see me making a lot of yogurt. I have figured out how I went wrong with the bread, added too much flour while kneading, so going for second attempt tonight, fingers crosses it will work out better this time.:)

Crikey, it must be cold up north  It's a lovely sunny day here, although it does keep trying to rain...and I've just seen a beautiful male pheasant in our lane strutting his stuff. Lovely!

I'm afraid I'm with dreaming though on the subject of aubergine. It just gets too soft and soggy in cooking...

I must say, Greying, that I am so impressed with your number of NSD's. That takes some doing. On the subject of eating out, we are lucky to have a village pub within walking distance that does home cooked food at a reasonable price so we can get 2 hot meals and 2 alcoholic drinks for around £21 which is within budget about once a month. In addition we can get the occasional fish and chips to share if we are late home and ravenous! Naughty, but very nice :D

Can't wait to see your dinner for tonight!

Haha I shall try but I'm a bit slapdash when it comes to quantities so my best guess is:

    1 tbsp veg oil
    1tbsp white wine vingear
    1tsp honey
    1tsp dark soy sauce
    1 clove garlic
    1 inch ginger

I just marinated strips of pork then chucked in mushrooms and spinach in a frying pan. I'd had a big lunch so didn't really need any carbs :)

The birds tweeting sure is nice. I'm loving the longer days as well. Up here it really is very dark in winter so the brighter days are brightening my mood!

Hope you've had a good day! I'm looking forward to hearing what you dream up for dinner :)

I'm glad you heard the birds tweeting before you headed out ... I love finding a tree where they've decided to roost - I often cross the road to *avoid* one - I find if I pass right by, they stop - so I stand on the other side of the road sometimes, and see if I can spot them flitting about within the tree. Only works this time of year, of course :)

  • Good Evening :hello:

In the word's of 'Arkwright'.... 'tas been a funny ole day...'

    Anyway. Moving swiftly on...... :rotfl:

I nicked a NSD and I have altered my siggie already! So we're at 16 - hurrah!

Pips - lovely to *see* ya :D

sonas_baby - ooh, sounds scrumdiddlyumptuous :D And keep us updated on the breadmaking. I know that I found it hard, until I got a recipe that worked and it just clicked. I like making bread now. Don't make nearly enough really.

little_sweetie - I so could have used a 'chippy tea' tonight :( Alas, I'd be cursing myself if I'd have succumbed, as that elusive thing called 'a decent chippy' is clearly still not available in these 'ere parts :) Lawks! I hope you are not going to be disappointed with what we ended up having..... it was a bit 'ordinary' :(

kem 10 - Thank you so much for taking the time to post that. I bet folks will find it of use, and I hope they show their appreciation through the 'thanks' button for you :D Oh dear, you're looking forward to me dinner too?? *gulp*

Karma - and to cap it all, I *think* I heard a skylark too, later on. I'm not super brilliant on bird song/calls, but I'm pretty sure that was what it was - couldn't see it mind, but they pack some volume, and fly quite high!

Well, we ended up dining quite late. DP decided he was just going to do a '10 minute DIY job' when I was about half way through preparing the meal........ 90 minutes later........

    I ended up plumping for biriyani with an omelette. It needed more colour really, and I was originally planning to cut up some French beans into it, but had lost the will somewhat, by the time DP eventually emerged ready to eat........So picture here;

    005_zps8ff0f147.jpg

The biriyani has carrots and puy lentils in it, and the 'sauce' is the curry sauce (frozen leftovers) that I used when I made the paneer Katsu curry. So quite a mild curry sauce.

Nope, not going to win any James Beard awards anytime soon, but there you go :D:D Had the day been different; had DP not hit a snag, then I suspect I may have had the energy to have done a little better :( Never mind, there's always tomorrow :o

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    for DP's perseverance :D

for people sharing their recipes and 'how to knowledge'

that I live in a country where bravery can be acknowledged, cowardice exposed and justice delivered.

Oh, and of course, the important news is.... Greying Towers now has liquid milk again :T :rotfl: Isn't it strange how your brain knows that the lumps are only ice, but your eyes tell your stomach something completely different....... :rotfl:

Thank you for popping in, sharing your marinade recipes :D, reading and commenting. I continue to appreciate it.

    See y'all later.

  • Good Morning :hello:

So, here we are again :D

Hoping to snag another NSD today. I'm sure we can get by on what we've got left food-wise, although the 'sameness' po-lice will already have started taking notes for the prosecution...... :rotfl:

Dinner tonight will be from the 'soup and sandwich' stable. However, due to 'endofthemonthitis' it may well end up being a very loose interpretation of the genre..... :rotfl:

I forgot to mention the other day that some of DP's CD's got decluttered to the CRUK charity shop. Absolutely amazing! 3 weeks ago, not one single CD was going to be exiting this house, and now he's talking about transferring stuff to other mediums so that the whole lot can go :T And I'm smiling benignly......(through gritted teeth, Dear Reader), thinking how many years ago I mooted this to start reducing the clutter/our possessions :D :rotfl:

Right, well. Snap bags are packed. Best away and at 'em I guess.

Thanks everso for popping by and reading. You know that I appreciate it. A LOT :D

    See y'all later.

  • You continue to inspire, decluttering continues, soup making is resurrected and NSDs increase. Now, I need advice on making and using a still, as my nightly tot of 'hard' cannot be dispensed with, and HM must be cheaper (if HM customs and Excise are reading this, this is a joke) if not..........
