Keeping number via pac paying remainder of contract over full minimum term

I want to leave o2. I have 18 months remaining. My idea was to take the data bolt on off. Buy a 12 month sim with three for £6.90 a month. Works out roughly the same price in total per month. Is there any way I can keep the number without paying the early termination fee in one hit ? Or would I have to use the new number from three in order to keep paying the reduced monthly amount on the o2 account ? Hope that makes sense!

You would need to terminate the line at O2 to transfer the number (it's part of the process of porting).

The only way to get a PAC is to agree to the early termination charge.

I knew that really. Just wondered if there was any way that anyone knew to leave the account dormant so to speak for the remainder of the minimum term, paying the monthly amount. Gonna have to use the new number from three. Thanks anyways!

Unfortunately not, while it is probably theoretically possible, no network would allow it.

I've done this before and left the old unused sim in a cheap payg, leave your new 3 number on the o2 voicemail and divert all calls ALWAYS to your o2 voicemail, periodically check the texts on the phone, and pay it off monthly instead of a lump sum.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)
