Problems with AOL Broadband

Signed up last month to AOL which includes: 2mb download for £15.

I cancelled the following day but was convinced otherwise by the cancellations team by giving me 8mb for £10.

Got my bill and found £15 was taken from my account.

Called up customer services and they said: "it was a mistake" by the person who dealt with me and theres "no way" i can get 8mb for £10 and i would have to "live with it".

Can i do anything?

You still entered a contract with AOL even though it was by distance selling. Its just harder to prove though as it was verbal.

Could you ask them to check the recording of the call if they have one?

Otherwise I'd follow their official complaints procedure

Ive had many problems with AOL and each time they have only been sorted by contacting ISPA, you really are wasting your time on the phone to the advisors. I am currently on platinum and i am paying £9.99 so this offer is available, dont let them fob you off and stick to your guns. ISPA sorted many of my problems within 24 hours, they will contact AOL on your behalf.

Hi all, just looking for some advice,

I;m currently on AOL platinum have been since Sept '06 been paying 29.99 per month, i have noticed that a lot of ISP are now offering 8mb at well under £20 per month. I have been with AOL for years was wondering if i phoned them up and told them that same package that i'm on is being offered at lower rate elsewhere will they reduce the cost?? Does anyone know a good number to phone perferiably UK, if not won't matter.

what are the chances they will reduce the monthly cost? If they don't do i will just leave but will do that at a later date as i'am away

Read the other posts on here but some others have got upto 8Mb for £9.99 although this may depend where you live i.e. if they have their equipment in your exchange. You should definitely be able to negotiate a reduction.

i have been paying AOL £24.99 p mth for AOL Platinum package... after reading this post just now i rang 0870 3202020 and told them that BT had offered me a 8mb package for £9.99 (white lie i know as it isn't offered in my area).. anyway AOL was reluctant to cancel the contract as i have only had this latest package for 8 months of a 12 month contract, though i have been an AOL customer for 5 years.
they wanted me to pay £100 cancelation fee so i agreed then they offered me my same 8mb unlimited (BT was limited to 5gb a month download) package with AOL Talk for one year allowing free evening and weekend calls.... all for £17.99 a month

today i have saved £8 a month and gained free phone calls to landlines.. just by a phone call and reading this forum so thanks to all
