My dad has BT broadband (Fibre) and is thinking about getting a cheap second hand Talk Talk Youview box. I was wondering if he'd still get the free BT sports channels on this as it would be using BT BB or would he need a BT Youview box?

In short - no. He would need a YouView from BT box. The reasons for this are technical in nature. The packages start at a one off £49 'activation fee', then £5 per mth for 12 mths = £109 (for the box). Which still represents good value if one is a sports watcher.0 -
Well I asked because I got a Talk Talk Youview box and have it on Virgin Media broadband. Now the first thing it did was to download a firmware update that got rid of the Talk Talk one which in turn left it as a standard Youview box. I was hoping plugging a Talk Talk one in BT would once again prompt it to download the BT firmware????This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Oh yes, it would do that. But that would be for the on demand player only, not the live channels.
Hope that helps clarify.0 -

Then I'm a prat and your right. So just tell your dad to go and get a TT YouView box to get BT Sport on his TV.
Wouldn't like the comeback your going to get though.
