We used to have them in work to clean stuff, these were the industrial size. They were rubbish. The steam generated enough oomph to clean an area the size of a post it note, which would then promptly dry dirty around the edges

The main problem with them is that all they ultimately do is move the dirt around. There's no suck.

Mine is in a box under the stairs.

I have one that steams and sucks so it's great for cleaning the floors but it wasn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination. It's great for doing the hob, but not really the oven as it fills with steam and I can't see anything!

I have a cordless hoover as well now for day to day hoovering as it's fiddly to empty the dirty water tank (and it stinks - clearly it's doing a good job)

I'm glad I have mine as I really hate mopping and I know the floors are clean.

There's not supposed to be, they use pressure, not vacuum, even if they do suck, :o:o;);)

My MIL has one and she swears by it (and yes, you can take that whichever way you like. :D)

    Cheers

  • My aunt has one and she loves it.....and you can take that whichever way that you want ;)

My aunt brought it round the day I moved into my home and promptly cleaned a number of items. However afterwards I couldn't really see a difference but I politely said that she had made a good job of it. However I do have a steam cleaning attachment for my wallpaper stripper with several different attachments. One might prove useful to de-ice the freezer when it needs doing....that job is still waiting so I cannot comment on it's effectiveness.

I have a hand-held one, it didn't have the wow factor I was expecting on my first go, the brush head was doing most of the work.

    (grouting, sink seal, health grill)

So it's back in the box!

Maybe I had the wrong technique or it's !!!!. Maybe I'll try again one day!

Don't like the idea of a steam mop with all the stinky/mucky pads.

The idea I think is to sway the dirt onto an absorbent pad.

    Yes so does mine.

I steam the floor and then hoover it up so I have no dirty cloths to contend with( yes and you are so right about the smell of the water when you empty it!)

I can also use it to clean up spills and flooding like when the pipes froze and then burst!

I would not be without it but it was not cheap so do not know how well the cheaper ones perform.

I thought the better idea would be to hoover up then steam the floor.?

Dirty cloths when steaming a floor?, yes of course, it shows the steamer is doing it's job, you want the muck off the floor.
Pads are washed just the same as any other floor cleaning kit, I don't see it as a problem.
