I have been informed that the documents relating to an old mortgage have now been destroyed is there any way of persuing a claim with out this information?

Most mortgage insurance complaints fail. So, at least its not losing a dead cert.
One of the reasons mortgage insurances usually fail is that most are set up how they should be. They do not form part of the mortgage and most are monthly direct debit. So, you could check your bank statements for the direct debit (although if you find it, it means it is correctly set up so you lose that as a complaint reason).
What exactly are you looking to complain about?
Who sold you the mortgage insurance (lender or broker)?
How long ago was this?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Why would your solicitor have insurance details?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. American Express have offered £100 as a gesture of goodwill in the absence of available records from 1999 . Is it worth challenging this with the ombudsman0

Fair enough but this is the PPI section.
A solicitor wont hold any of the insurance docs. A lender wont hold any of the insurance docs either if a broker was used. Even if a lender was used, most MPPI would not appear on the mortgage docs.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Please ask on your own thread. Not on someone elses thread on an unrelated topic. (however, in the absence of documentation, either you supply it as they must use any documentation you can provide or you accept their offer if you have none)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The insurance fee was included in the monthly payment, although the insurance was with a seperate company, all I have is the mortgage account number and the period it ran for, would this be sufficient information to proceed with a claim?0
