Which Airline do I write to???

Flight was from Lima (Peru) to Madrid - booked through IBERIA but the flight was flown/operated by LAN Airlines - we were delayed by 5 hours which meant we missed our conenction to Geneva and arrived in Geneva 19 hours late overall. (They did put us up in a hotel and arranged our flights for the next day - but we did not use 1 nights accomodation in Chamonix and a day's use of a mountain guide - so approx £300 in unused service costs that are non-refundable).

Is my claim against IBERIA (which I think then allows me to claim under EU rules (EU airline and landing in an EU airport) or is it against LAN (Which is not an EU ariline, therefore I cannot claim)?

Any advice gratefully received.

The crux is "operating air carrier" which was LAN, so no claim.

Oh dear, I had that horrible feeling that would be the case - what is the expression - "over a barrel" ! My insurance policy with the BMC (British Mountaineering Council) is suitably ambiguous as to see whether I might have a claim under the cancellation/curtailment/rearrangement clauses.

I suspect I will be putting this down to experience and using a crystal ball next time to ensure I am covered for all eventualities in future.
