Hello,

I am looking at putting about £1000 into some shares i have the https://www.share.com practice account so was going to just open a real account with them and start investing the £1000?

Is this a good idea? Does anyone know the cost they charge to buy and sell and withdraw the money later?

i have never done any form of share buying other than on the practice account i know a lot of people use HL. is investing in a S&S ISA via HL simple like the practice account? could someone explain the process for me?

I have a few ISAs with them since they took over what had been originally Single Company PEPs invested via Bradford and Bingley's investment service. I haven't had much interaction with them over the years.

They have just informed me that if I want to continue to get statements etc through the post there will be an additional monthly charge which is quite significant given the size of the funds in question. The alternative would be to receive communications by email which I do not consider satisfactory. I would be content if like Hargreaves Lansdown information was made available within an online account and emails sent simply informing me when new information is available.

I have just signed up for an online account and my first impressions are not good.

i have looked into Hargreaves Lansdown and i am still no closer to deciding between HL and share.com.

I am going to play it high risk as i will only be doing it with £2000 and don't mind if i loose in the short term on some stock as i will just keep them. I will be investing in single companies like apple, amazon a number of banks and some Vanguard Funds like FTSE 100 ETF (VUKE) and FTSE Emerging Markets ETF (VFEM).

can anyone else give me advice of what company i can use you buy and sell shares. I am looking to buy and sell shares on a weekly/monthly bases or when ever the price is good. is there companies better for this type of thing? and is the good in to do in a S&S ISA?

i have been using the share.com Practice account and have made a nice amount in a short amount of time.

You won't be buying and selling weekly or monthly. The charges will wipe kill you if your only using 2k.

Why not just invest in the life strategy fund?

If you want to buy things like Apple you need an account that deals in international shares.

The best account I have found in terms of the range of markets available is Saxo Bank.

In terms of charges most banks are the same.

You dont really need a S&S ISA for such a small amount, ISA usually involve an annual charge.
Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Surely reading up in it yourself and then coming here to ask questions is more productive for everyone involved?

It is always different this time. The only thing that is the same is the outcome.
